It's no longer about restoring what was before. It's about building what comes after.
Repeating: unlike previous unjustified wars (most of them since 1945), there has been ZERO attempt to line up any allies or create the tiniest fig leaf of international sanction for a war. We're just going to invade because we think we can.
Even GWB had to go out and get Poland on his side first.
Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.

Life goals.
Deep down, don't we all want the same thing?
To be with someone who makes us feel safe and loved?
Someone who will help us run a tea shoppe & used bookstore in the old forest for witches, fairies, and the wild folk of the wood?

Exactly 80 years ago tomorrow (Nov. 30, 1945), German submarine commander Heinz-Wilhelm Eck and two of his former subordinates on the U-852 were shot by Allies in Hamburg for killing the survivors of a ship they had sunk. Pete Hagueseth should be very worried. www.executedtoday.com/2009/11/30/1...

I'm afraid this date is a lot closer than we think.

Also, AI and social media may have killed people's ability to engage with difficult material, but students also ask what the point of education is when we're careening twoard a future of underpaid gigs w/ no security and institutional idiocracy.
It's only a matter of time before humanities departments will be forced to accept AI-authored assignments, as part of revised university policy to cooperate with these billionaires. It's already happening, and our response needs to be decisive. Because our students' ability to *think* is at stake.

This is a war crime. Hegseth needs to be removed and put on trial.

Democrats? The ball is in your court on this, and there is only one morally justifiable position.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.

If we brand universal health care as TrumpCare and use gold live-love-laugh font in its branding, do you think we can get it before we all die of black lung?
Along with the meatpacking rant, further evidence Trump has clocked the cost-of-living issue but has no idea what to do about it. I guess cutting tariffs is out of the question.

(NB I reckon that despite tariffs, inflationary risks from services are probably bigger than those from goods.)

2. Nothing says "We're out to fleece you" like old-fashioned Est European-style two-tiered pricing.
3. People are already not coming to America.

It's important to say that, unlike with even the Iraq War, there has been ABSOLUTELY NO ATTEMPT to justify or otherwise make this war palatable to anyone — not NATO, not the UN, not the American people.
The global fallout from this will be devastating, and Putin and Xi will be laughing with glee.
Donald Trump, the same person who is telling us he would never use the US military to do anything illegal, is on the verge of using the US military to steal another sovereign nation's oil. Just 'cause he wants it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
