Absolutely insane waste of resources and a perfect manifestation of this admin’s hostility to poor people.

It just needs to be way easier to lose your license and your car for reckless driving, because a few months of major societal disruption 5 years ago taught people that driving in such a way that kills others or themselves is nbd

It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

This:
It is so shamefully dangerous to be a teenage girl in this country. It is so shamefully dangerous to be a child, period. I'm not sure there could be a vaster gulf between the right's worshipful posture towards the capital-C Child and their brutish disregard for actual, living children.

That’s about the sum of it.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

I underestimated how profoundly embarrassing the fall of our democracy would be.
This, in particular, is spectacularly hideous. It's like something you'd see on the wall of a car dealership where they put pictures of their top salespeople every month

Warning to the feds: if Trump sends soldiers to NYC, we have very varied sandwich options at our disposal. You will encounter a fusillade of bahm mi, BEC, gyro, chop cheese, BLT, doubles, lox bagel, croque-madame, torta and döner.
Hell, half a Katz’s pastrami on rye could wipe out a couple of guys.

This guy's path to fame has been amazing. Makes one think (if one is a total nerd) of James C. Scott's book Weapons of the Weak.
Sean Dunn, aka DC Sandwich Guy, speaks outside court after his not guilty verdict:

“I am so happy that justice prevails in spite of everything….

“That night I believe I was protecting the rights of immigrants…

Every life matters, no matter where you came from, no matter how you got here…”

Exactly this:
I am fascinated by a question @lastpositivist.bsky.social raised - will the mundane reality of Mamdani's governance cause anyone like this to reconsider their fantasies or the basis of their fantasies? How much do they even believe this crap themselves?
November 5, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Mamdani is great. Mamdani is talented. But it's NYC mayoral, which is very idiosyncratic and historically translates poorly to the national stage.
This is what happens when you try to make Zohran's win part of a national narrative instead of its own, very specifically New York thing, which is why you shouldn't be trying to turn Zohran's win into a big, national thing. This one's for the city.
Btw, the press obsessing about Mamdani seems weird. He seriously underperformed the Democratic vote in NYC compared to recent elections, barely scraping 50%. Moderate Democrats in VA and NJ dramatically overperformed. That seems the real story

This is very good and important, right?
Democrats have secured a 5-2 majority on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, a key swing state.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

C'mon. The writers for this season have gone off the rails. No way someone actually testified this way in court.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."
