Wait, what?! Yesterday, it emerged that Auckland Transport plans to re-open Queen St to all night thru-traffic. Boy racers, start your engines!🏎️🏎️🏎️

But why? And who on earth asked for this? Is this Project K all over again?

Remember when the internet wasn't awful? We can go back to that.

Some friends and I have released the Resonant Computing Manifesto: a call to bring back such a time, to see if we can bring back a world where technology works for us, rather than against us.

I think the worst was the stress period of that 48 hours before lockdown. What to do? Furious whanau conversations about bubbles. Manic drives to secure a new laptop. People highly stressed. The final quick dash to the supermarket.

Charming? The quiet & no drivers around - so really safe to cycle.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

This is a good post - and I agree. We do need to have the right title for the tools of the job.
Not the main problem, but increasingly thinking we need a moratorium on the term "Artificial Intelligence" (both in full and as "AI") because it's clear it means at least three seriously different things and equivocation between those helps to enable this nonsense.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense
