Big soft late thirties bunny. Rather nice, if I do say so myself. Any pronouns are cool to use.

Being unemployed is fun, and not at all a humiliating, demeaning and stressful way to waste months at a time for nothing of worth to come back. I don't want to break down, cry or run away into the forest at all!

Job hunting is fun because you get to apply for something, wait two months to hear anything from them, get offered an interview two weeks later, and then spend another two weeks waiting to hear back that you haven't got the job. :(

All commentary on leaving Twitter seem to miss the fundamental reason why i use Twitter.I want to interact with the people, ideas + media that I enjoy.Just like I do everywhere. I don't listen to speedcore very often, why would I spend my time listening to a station that forced me to hear more of it?

This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.
Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one centre-right friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense. That I’ve largely stopped posting on a site that’s done more to shape my career and social circle than the rest of the internet combined is less about avoiding rival opinions (I love arguing with people who are wrong!) than with the fact the site simply became unusable. It stopped generating the things (good jokes, interesting debate, clicks) I wanted; it became extremely good at generating the things (racists, pornbots, racist pornbots) I did not.

I wish nothing but the worst for every person involved in these disgusting acts of cruelty.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

Nearly my entire friend network and some of the people I have loved the most in the whole world have been found on social media. My closest friend who I still talk to near daily I met 25 years ago in a chat room online when we were 12 and 13 respectively. Social media saved my life.

From a pumpkin festival. So everything was expensive, but this was egregious and also got the vegan tax on top
bunzo.bsky.social
Literal crimes were committed here.

Found my chaser trans dating app profile picture.
A picture of myself, surrounded by pumpkins, with a small pumpkin in hand, sat on a Vespa. I'm looking off into the high horizon, because I saw someone talk about it on the internet recently as a thing to do when having your photo taken, but I don't think it looks cool and enigmatic at all.

How much would you pay for this fine meal? Because this spicy vegan chicken burger cost me ten British pounds.

Reminds me that the two people who created Mensa wanted it to be an 'aristocracy of the intellect' and hated what they made because the members were the wrong sort. One hated that the members were working class and the other that they were all nerds who were obsessed with solving puzzles.
Screenshot from the Wikipedia page for Mensa.

History

Roland Berrill, a British-Australian barrister, and Lancelot Ware, a British barrister and biochemist, founded Mensa at Lincoln College, in Oxford, England in 1946, with the intention of forming a society for the most intelligent, with the only qualification being a high IQ.

The society was ostensibly to be non-political in its aims and free from all other social distinctions, such as race and religion.[However, Berrill and Ware were both disappointed with the resulting society. Berrill had intended Mensa as "an aristocracy of the intellect" and was unhappy that the majority of members came from working or lower-class homes, while Ware said: "I do get disappointed that so many members spend so much time solving puzzles."

I could understand that in some capacity, but if they're saying it's the same size as a smartphone, and has a microphone, cameras and speaker, it's just not filling the better than what I already have requirements.

Even if you loved AI, surely this item at its best is rubbish? Shouldn't the reason for a product always be "this solves a problem my current situation can't" and there's nothing here better than a phone with chatgpt on it.

Hahaha this device is never going to release, or if it does it will become notorious for its shittiness, like if pets.com released the N-GAGE

Multiple people familiar with the plans said OpenAI and Ive were working on a device roughly the size of a smartphone that users would communicate with through a camera, microphone and speaker. One person suggested it might have multiple cameras.

The gadget is designed to sit on a desk or table but can also be carried around by the user. The Wall Street Journal previously reported some of the specifications around the device.

One person said the device would be “always on” rather than triggered by a word or prompt. The device’s sensors would gather data throughout the day that would help to build its virtual assistant’s “memory”.
OpenAI and Ive are seeking to build a more powerful and useful machine. But two people familiar with the project said that settling on the device's "voice" and its mannerisms were
a challenge.
One issue is ensuring the device only chimes in when useful, preventing it from talking too much or not knowing when to finish the conversation - an ongoing issue with ChatGPT.
"The concept is that you should have a friend who's a computer who isn't your weird AI girlfriend... like [Apple's digital voice assistant] Siri but better,
" said one person
who was briefed on the plans. OpenAI was looking for "ways for it to be accessible but not intrusive" OpenAI's device will be entering a difficult market. Friend, an AI companion worn as a pendant around your neck, has been criticised for being "creepy" and having a
"snarky" personality. An Al pin made by Humane, a company that Altman personally invested in, has been scrapped.
Still, OpenAI has been on a hiring spree to build its hardware business. Its acquisition of io brought in more than 20 former Apple hardware employees poached by Ive from his alma mater. It has also recruited at least a dozen other Apple device experts this year, according to LinkedIn accounts.
