Turing failed to consider whether a human thinking a machine is sentient might actually be a sign that the human isn't intelligent rather than the machine being intelligent.

Such important lenses to apply when planning.

So many useful points that I could see apply to physics teaching.

Jeet Heer's essay on Jeffrey Epstein's role as a foreign policy influence agent is eye-opening and an essential read. It's remarkable that given all the ink spilled over this man—most of it simple scandal-mongering—we still have such a feint understanding of his project. This clarifies a great deal.

Mainstream media is ignoring the fact that the late sex trafficker was a power broker who shaped global policy.

ICYMI, tonite I learned that Trump is way pro-Mamdani, Marjorie Taylor Greene is resigning from Congress on principle, and the biggest US defender of Ukraine's right's to self-determination under the UN Charter is (checks notes) a Republican Senator from Mississippi. Gonna try to sleep it off.

This morning, the President of the United States publicly called for the execution of six Members of Congress.

Donald Trump must be removed from office. Today.

He is a clear & present danger to this country. Right now. Invoke the 25th Amendment, or impeach & convict him. Now.

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

phrasing it as "no meaningful *management* experience" is so funny. they didn't use the word government specifically because they don't want to imply there's anything wrong with the billionaire to elected office pipeline
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

The Founders were so concerned about bribery that the Constitution forbids it three separate times. Two emoluments clauses ban officials—unambiguously including the president—from accepting things of value, plus bribery is the only named impeachable offense besides treason.

Unprecedentedly corrupt.

Also, the older I get, the more I realize it's *SO* important as adults to have space just to play.

This is how children learn, and how adult animals stay healthy. Humans seem to reject it

Play is how we stay curious, practice resilience, and reject performance, perfection, and expectation.
Having to focus on how movement looks, sounds, and feels is why enjoy martial arts. I could exercise on a treadmill, but I would 100% stay stuck in the anxiety in my head. With MA, I have to climb out of my head and focus on my body.

That's mindfulness.

Plus, it's practice punching Nazis.
This morning’s swordplay.

The joy of learning something new (and on your own) is permission to just focus on how something sounds and feels.

I’m a sensory person. I find the sound of wind, metal quite satisfying, and meditative in the morning. #jian #straightsword
