Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...
Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.
One of the Biggest Cases of the Supreme Court’s Term Is John Roberts’ Decadeslong Pet Project
If there’s one thing the Roberts court has been consistent on, it’s this.

The redhead larvacean is a deep-sea climate hero 🌊💙

These tiny animals build mucous houses to filter marine snow sinking from the waters above. When their filters clog, they abandon their homes, which sink to the seafloor packed with nutrients and large amounts of carbon: youtu.be/7swiAc8rZbk?...
Nu, then we can hope it'll be solved with the other 2000-year old problems.
Ok, but my personal hill to die on is that we should really go back to using the biblical possessive forms instead of all this הדבר של פלוני nonsense.

roberts’s constitution allows for racial discrimination as long as you don’t say you’re racially discriminating, because in a classic bit of racecraft, roberts’s constitution forbids acknowledging race but has no particular issue with racism.
So when you say Jesus was chasing people like Trump out of the Temple... From our perspective, that's calling people who were doing an essential job that allowed travelers from afar to come and participate in the Passover pilgrimage akin to a corrupt cheating adulterous liar.
Further, discussion of the money-changers is so often full of blatant antisemitism - which I don't see any of in your posts, to be clear - a lot of us are on a real hair trigger about it. I also think that recent events and Bluesky discourse around them have put a lot of us on edge.
As for the money-changers, from a Jewish perspective, they were going a critical and sacred task, as pagan coins with graven images were forbidden in the Temple proper - and the Gospels don't actually make Jesus' problem with them explicit.
I'm gonna put this as gently as I can, but... suffice it to say that a lot of Jews are really, really tired of hearing that most of our historical interactions with Christianity weren't with "real Christians."

Whatever you think about CFPB, it was created by Congress (as part of the Dodd-Frank Act) and can only be abolished by Congress, not by the President acting as a dictator.

"feds gas the cops at a nonviolent protest," as is happening in Chicago, is ideal. you want to make sure that the feds and the cops are on opposite sides of the escalation ladder.

there will be escalation, but you don't have to fight the actual cops yet. maybe you will, but ideally you won't.

My super modern regulatory plan is that any entity named for a thing from Tolkien has to publicly explain why Tolkien wouldn’t immediately throw it into Mount Doom
Tolkein continues to resonate. The new bank being set up by Palmer Luckey and backed by Peter Thiel is named Erebor after the “lonely mountain” in The Hobbit. This was also an interesting line in this rpt on the new bank by @tabbykinder.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/202d...
