The states in gray are the states where the governors are more afraid of Trump than they are of killing the people they were elected to represent.
In the 60-year history of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, it’s never run out of money. Here are the states suing the federal government over it.
Sweet little Eggs. Sending all the good vibes, Maya. I hope he's feeling better soon! 💖

Coverage of mamdani (every word endlessly scrutinized, wildly bad faith interpretations of everything he says) vs coverage of trump (sanitizing every quote, ignoring his nonsense or paraphrasing it into what reporters wish he had said) is so instructive as to how in the tank the press is for the GOP

I've seen it so many times, and it still makes me yell at the screen.
I'm a magical lumberjack able to detect which Maples will have that wonderful variation inside.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I watch it every year on my birthday, 12/21. It's a lovely coincidence that's the date at the bottom of the screen when the action starts. I have not yet seen Prince of Darkness. Trying to get to it this month for my horror movie Discord group.

Looks like the Grok Wikipedia clone, powered by unregulated methane burners destroying Black folks in Memphis, is about as you’d expect.

Sotomayor's dissent was appropriately blunt. Boyd did exactly what SCOTUS has said is needed to prevail on an 8th Amendment challenge to an execution method: he proposed a readily available alternative (firing squad) and conclusively showed it would be far less torturous, as it obviously would be.

Student newspapers are a critical part of our information ecosystem, becoming more important with each passing year, bc 1) they’re very good at what they do and 2) they’re not bought & paid for by billionaires like most major newspapers are.

Which means they actually report rather than equivocate.

Hey everyone. I’m trying to help an LA friend here, an Eaton Fire survivor. Long story short, they’re disabled and in need of a place to stay for low $ in LA (near transit) or Sacramento. They have chronic medical problems homelessness is exacerbating and really need this help. I vouch. DM me

I'm halfway through this article and I have two questions that are not a critique of the article.

The first: why don't we openly talk about these kinds of approaches as what they actually are - experimenting on children with little oversight and the potential to cause real lasting harm?
Parents Fell in Love With Alpha School’s Promise. Then They Wanted Out
In Brownsville, Texas, some families found a buzzy new school’s methods—surveillance of kids, software in lieu of teachers—to be an education in and of itself.

just keeping score here: poisoning our water and air is free speech, speaking out against genocide is terrorism
Exxon says it can't reveal how much pollution it makes because doing so would force it to “serve as a mouthpiece for ideas with which it disagrees.”

Which is just the "homework is against my religion" excuse, if the student saying it killed 8 million people a year.

Maya's wonderful, and Eggs is the best. Send some bacon if you can!
If you can help in any way or would like to buy anything I sell (check the links in my bio) I'd be very grateful.

The pinned item is 1/5 the cost of what I've already put out for the ER/x rays/blood tests.

If it gets filled, I'll add another one.
Thank you.

Shares also appreciated!

Oh was the lead writer on this Simon Bazelon? The son of Emily Bazelon, whose NYT article about trans kids was so heinous that it sparked 200 NYT contributors to sign an open letter protesting it?
