Cave life's not all bad for olms. They live *exceptionally* long lives for an amphibian (100 yrs!), possibly arising from the fact that they have no natural predators & have been known not to move for up to 7 years.

Just tiny pink dragons guarding their tiny water-filled caves for a century. 🐉💧
One blind, aquatic salamander may have sat mostly still for seven years
Olms may live for about century and appear to spend their time moving sparingly.

This is the Sunburst Candy Spider from Thailand. Not AI (sucks to have to declare this). Very real and had been on my wish list for a long time.

The taxonomic placement is unclear, so we are leaving it at Cyrtarachninae.

Doris’s Bird

I’m heavy hearted tonight. One of my patients I care for has passed tonight. We connected over a lot of natural beauty of her home country of Colombia.

Please be at rest now and thank you for the opportunity to know and care for you Doña Doris

Day 156 of showing the internet that (jumping) spiders aren't scary 😟

Our Phidippus regius Blue Mountains girl Cheeto woke up today and chose VIOLENCE (the adorable kind). She jumped eight times in one video, so of course, we had to make it a jump-counting challenge! 🧡 #jumpingspider

In the past few days I've seen mutiple other bunny-pages I follow post videos of their buns out in play areas oj the lawn that were completely empty. As someone who has outdoor bunnies, this somewhat irks me as it is ill adviced in many ways. (1/2)

A cool, still evening last night meant fewer moths to the garden moth light but that made it easier to document some of the micro moth visitors.

This moth was ~3mm long and I think might be in the Family Gelechiidae (Twirler moths)

INaturalist couldn't decide which fungus it was, so I won't guess.☺️ Regardless, I LOVE it.🥰

France plans to spend $150 million to rip out grape vines due to wine industry woes from increasing heat, drought, etc

Yet planting rows of trees around vines can drought- & heat-proof them while keeping production up w/o irrigation

I reported about this #agroforestry solution in southern France:

Yes! I don’t understand it, but with some dogs their nose color is temperature dependent. His nose was pink most of the time we lived in MD but I just realized it’s changed back to black

I took a photo of Monet's pocket watercolors paint kit.

It was TINY and very basic (not many colors). But, very well used.

There was a lesson, in that.
Drawing supplies are cheap or even free (there are paper sack sketchbook tutorials on YouTube as well!)

Time is expensive but you can snatch a few minutes for doodling where you can.

The good news is that anyone can draw. The bad news is that there is no magic, just elbow grease and determination. Follow this nice lady, for example, with your $2 supplies and, with enough practice, you will draw.
