I don't think I might join the survey team. That said, I absolutely value the effort behind on reaching out and compiling this info, despite being skeptical of certain parameters.
If I see the highest rate repeating three times in a row in different roles, I just have to be skeptical, because the math doesn't make sense otherwise. See this comment for what I mean bsky.app/profile/bern...
Joke aside, my guess is that a cartoonist got paid 375 per page for doing the entire book from top to bottom, but in their mind is like "well they are paying me $375 per page so it makes sense marking $375 for the lettering alone."
Please do, because otherwise figures like that skews the average numbers per job role by a very considerable account.
I always take phrases like "manga is selling like hot cakes in the U.S." with a grain of salt when I hear how low the rates are across all departments in that side of the business. Not that two things can't be true at the same time, but it's certainly... interesting, to say the least.
See my follow-up reply. Otherwise, AFAIK, no publisher at all is paying 375 bucks for lettering a comic page.

I'd love to meet whoever gets paid 375 bucks to letter a single comic page. That publisher must be paying by the ounce.

Take a few minutes to appreciate Drew Struzan creating the original artwork for THE PHANTOM MENACE. Truly a master at work.

Some more pics of the exhibition for those interested. I was surprised to see prints/originals of GITS's English localization by Studio Proteus that features lettering by Uncanny X-Men's Tom Orzechowski.

(For those wondering, the staff allowed photos but video footage wasn't allowed)
Masamune Shirow's work on Fire Emblem is a bit polarizing among fans but I personally loved his take on the Archanea NDS remakes. That said, I was a bit disappointed that his FE art wasn't featured on this year's exhibit (which I'm really happy I managed to visit while I lived in Japan)
Woah woah no need to get *that* gory.

Remember how I kept talking about the Metroidvania book I had in the works, and then it kinda dropped off the radar? I didn't lose interest. I was just working with a Legit Major Publisher (Dark Horse!) on turning it into the pilot release for a Press Run team-up: www.gamespot.com/articles/exp...

Everyone (including me) is playing Final Fantasy Tactics right now, but its older sibling Tactics Ogre actually celebrated its 30th yesterday.
An illustration featuring several members of the cast from Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which was released on October 6th, 1995.
Absolutely, I was so happy to see it! As a side comment, is there an estimated word count for the VN? It's more of a professional curiosity than anything, hopefully it's okay to ask.
