‼️ CHATTANOOGA - Public school kids outperform voucher kids AGAIN

As @GovBillLee steers more and more taxpayer funds away from public schools to private (mostly Christian) schools for wealthy families who are already there.

I think the use of chatbots for stuff like this is intended to train people to use it to avoid everything that’s painful or hard. It can write the obituary, the breakup text, the complaint letter. It’s meant to separate humans from their difficult feelings. Seems bad.
New: A few weeks ago, when my father-in-law died, the funeral home asked if we wanted to use AI to write his obituary. So I dug into it and found that it's the biggest new trend in "death care." Tens of thousands of AI obits have been made already. Often the families don't even know wapo.st/4okuxIg
The rise of AI tools that write about you when you die
Families and funeral directors are using AI obituary generators to more efficiently memorialize the dead. What happens when they get it wrong?

When anyone says they’re going to Paris, I always suggest the Sewer Museum. Two people have taken me up on it, and they were not sorry.

Regular reminder not to tell people something is easy. If the implication you want them to take from saying it’s easy is that they can do it, I suggest you say, “I think you can do it”.

What I hope comes out of this national reckoning is a confrontation with the culturally-informed sense of entitlement men feel to sex with teenage girls. It is more pervasive than I think most understand. I had my eyes opened in the 00's working for the biggest dating website you've never heard of.

my modest disagreement is that i think it is important to signal virtue even if, privately, you are a piece of shit. performing decency is an important part of maintaining the norm that decency is part of a well ordered society.
you are SUPPOSED to signal virtue. The actual argument, such as it exists, is that people are signaling virtue while not actually being virtuous. But you are supposed to signal virtue and BE VIRTUOUS.
Really was one of the dumbest and most harmful things possible for “virtue signaling” to become some kind of epithet. Sending externally visible signals that you are engaging in pro-social behavior is normal, natural, and good, it’s how society works. Other people can’t read your fucking mind.

Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw
i don't mean to come off as rude but we cannot sustain ourselves on outrage and anger forever. i think it's even more important now to post about other things too. even if it gets less engagement. you never know who will find it cool and interesting.
It’s a real mindfuck when most ppl wanna post about their latest failures/successes, or weird shit they saw in the wild or cool stuff they made…but the country is a cesspool so cool/weird shit seems trite.

I've written many drafts of this post with the goal of being as cool as @katmabu.bsky.social in her campaign ads but alas!

The dilly: Today is 50 days from my 50th birthday. My goal is to raise $5K for my campaign for town board.

This is the pattern. States introduce broad voucher programs, families with kids already in private schools take advantage of them, and those schools raised tuition.

It was never ever ever ever about rescuing poor kids from bad schools.
NC made vouchers open to any family, then many private schools raised tuition
Research by Public Schools First NC found many private schools receiving Opportunity Scholarships raised tuition by 15% or more after the state increased voucher funding.

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.
