Hey friends, it's not queerbaiting if Chris, aka Peacemaker, a bisexual, has feelings for a woman. It's not schroedinger's queerness. He's still queer even if he's in a het relationship. Of all the complaints I've seen about S2, this one makes me the angriest.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.
"
Today in @TheFP our @Olivia_Reingold talks to the cops who say they will walk if Zohran Mamdani is elected in November:”

probably the masked unidentified ICE folks are aware that they would be unpopular with their friends and neighbors if they were publicly identified.
They are bounty hunters and it a shameful way to make a living.
If you know one, shame them.
And tell their mothers.

FWIW ICE is probably the least accessible federal agency I’ve ever covered, and that includes the CIA.

Why are there so few (none?) news stories about individual ICE agents themselves? Who they are, what motivates them, any moral dilemmas they face? Why aren’t protesters trying to get some to speak out?

Abolish ICE.

If you work for ICE, you should quit to save your immortal soul.

Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.
He was caring for his 5-year-old son with brain cancer. Then he was detained by ICE.
A court has temporarily blocked Johny Merida Aguilar's deportation to Bolivia.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

#GunViolence South Carolina, early hours Sunday October 12, 2025. Four people dead, at least 20 injured.

Dr. Annie Andrews, reacting to this in the video below, is running to unseat Lindsey Graham.

Note: I can't find her platform on her website. (Yes, Zohran Mamdani has it on his)

We're currently assembling packets containing a whistle and the instructions (quick blasts for ICE spotted, long for ICE detaining someone.) Here's what we're using. (Thanks to Pilsen Arts & Community House for the flyer design in English and Spanish)

“Spirited out of state”. Editors are really going through the thesaurus to find wild new ways to describe “kidnapping and transporting across state lines”.

It's also cowardice: "you can't blame *me* (or hold me accountable) for 'shadow docket' SCOTUS decisions, my name isn't attached to that shitty ruling that deprived you of rights or legalized violence, or whatever"

mesmerizing, is what it is.

(I only wish the whole dance/song was in the video, it's the only thing that could make it better in any way)

It's #portfolioday! I'm presently a senior narrative designer at Blizzard, but before that I was at Bungie and Arkane. I wrote for the Writer's Guild award-nominated Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and a bunch of critically acclaimed seasons and expansions in Destiny 2.

If you're going to have a filthy one-night stand with a burned-out former rock star you just met, you should at least have standards.

NOBODY'S BARGAIN is short, explicit, and just $2.99.
books2read.com/u/bxD0no
A square light blue graphic with faded pastel circles. It has the Nobody's Bargain book cover on the right with the words "Out now" above and the vendors listed below it. Amazon, Apple, B&N, and Kobo. The cover itself is of a dissolute-looking white guy with long shaggy brown hair and a dark beard. He's got one hand on his forehead and the other is obscured. He's wearing a dark blue captain's coat with an epaulet on the shoulder, but his chest is bare and you can see the hints of several tattoos. Does Ren actually look like this in the book? No. This is his younger self, the confident jackass he used to be. To the left of this image is the following excerpt text: Hitha doesn’t bother reaching for clothes or wrapping a sheet around herself. If Ren hasn’t already seen it all, he’s certainly felt it all. Licked it all.
She passes two shut doors in the corridor before she hits the open one. The utilitarian bathroom light casts his pale, narrow, back in harsh relief and reveals in detail the tattoos she couldn’t make out last night in the dark. Water slicks his hair and sluices over each piece of ink, some more faded than others. No iron crosses or swastikas, thank god. Her policy of not fucking Nazis remains inviolate. Ren’s tattoos are green and black points on a map of his life.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Please add alt-text when sharing images, so that blind and low-vision people aren't excluded from the conversation. Some context and copy/paste or a brief description are often enough. Checking the "reminder to add alt-text" box in your accessibility settings helps a lot.

Thank you.
Six panel, cartoon-style graphic titled, why use alt-text?
First panel: slow internet. Next to a line drawing of a phone showing a social media post with an image, where the alt-text is visible while the image is unavailable. Text reads: Alt-text is shown in place of unloaded images.
Second panel: Findability. A line drawing of the top of a phone, showing the search bar, reading "dog with banana". The text above it reads: Alt-text helps to search content.
Third panel: screen readers. In lieu of the image, a blank square with alt-text shows up; the text above the box reads: Alt- is read out to people using text-to-speech software.
Fourth panel: translation. There's a line drawing of a phone, showing the Google translate box, reading "English to Deutsch". The text above reads: Alt-text can be translated.
Fifth panel: readability. There's a line drawing showing very poor writing inside a dialogue bubble; next to it the clarifying text "a character says 'hello, guys'" The text above the drawing reads, Text in images can be made legible.
Sixth panel: disambiguation. The line drawing of the phone again, showing part of an image that, depending on how you look at it, seems to be either a bunny or a duck. The clarifying text reads, "my pet bunny". Infographic titled “Writing Alt Text” featuring a photo of a capybara. Parts of alt text are divided by color, including identify who, expression, description, color, and interesting features. The finished description reads “A capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on the top of the capybara’s head.” Source: veroniiiica.com Credit: Puzzle
