15 years ago, a tiny orphaned elephant was rescued from a well. Predators had bitten her trunk and she was hungry, weak, and frightened. That was how Naipoki’s story began. Now - just this week - she adds a new chapter to her story: motherhood! Remind yourself of how far she’s come: swt.bio/naipoki

As Chopin famously said, “gotta keep it fresh or it’s on to the next one” (or probably it was Jay Z)
Congratulations to Eric Lu for winning the #ChopinCompetition! I knew when I heard his rendition of the 2nd Sonata in the 2nd round that he was on a higher level. He brings such depth and gravitas, and elevates the pieces.
Here's a video of him timestamped to my favorite Chopin waltz, C#m, Op. 64/2.

The 3 stages of grief: denial, anger, ballroom
Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up?

TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.

This is why the cylindrical object moving across the solar system at an incredible pace is hollow. It's a cargo vessel. Time to harvest the garden and ship back a load of tasty apes.

I missed this last week, but buried in a somewhat minor Policy Manual update, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that it may now start placing undocumented immigrants into removal proceedings when a family member files a visa petitions to help them (eventually) "fix their papers."

Now, a new study that examines the world’s total supply of fresh water — accounting for its rivers and rain, ice and aquifers together — warns that Earth’s most essential resource is quickly disappearing, signaling what the paper’s authors describe as “a critical, emerging threat to humanity.”
“farther south — where most people live — it is largely the race to suck groundwater from aquifers that is removing the water from the continents.

So much groundwater is now being pumped that it’s filling the oceans as it drains off land, becoming one of the largest drivers of global sea level rise
“Staggering” Water Loss Driven by Groundwater Mining Poses Global Threat

The first but not the last.
The first planned migration of an entire country due to climate change is happening! Tuvalu, a Pacific island nation, is at risk of being submerged under rising sea level, so it has signed an agreement with Australia to allow 280 Tuvaluans to settle in Australia as permanent residents each year.
The First Planned Migration of an Entire Country Is Underway
The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu could be submerged in 25 years due to rising sea levels, so a plan is being implemented to relocate its population to Australia.
