I've said it before and I'll say it again: the UK countryside is full of interdimensional portals. You just have to know where to look.
lichen-spattered railway underpasses portal Bodmin Moor portal, which offers the irresistible promise of "danger" and an excellent view Brutalist time traveller portal Lime kiln portal

Israel limiting aid into Gaza because of a few dead bodies tells you a lot about the direction of travel vis a vis this deal

You wouldn’t be able to see Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones because she died 39 years before it was made. What would be able to do would be to burn down a forest in order to see a lifeless puppet that vaguely looks like her riding around on slightly less lifeless dragon

They joined the EU in 1973 as part of Denmark, despite voting overwhelmingly not to join. They got home rule in 1979 and left the EU, after a referendum, in 1985

It’s for English language. 36,650 were entered for English literature. The numbers are just for England

I found the numbers for this year as well, and the entry numbers are down for both

According to the government’s own figures only 13,010 people were entered for A-level English last summer, and the number of people taking it is dropping

Also any job that actually requires an A-level standard of English is already going to be asking for it

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.

Polanski is talking nonsense about wealth taxes.

Today marks the Double Ninth Festival a day for climbing mountains and honoring elders. In this 1980s photo, three ladies wear chrysanthemum garlands to celebrate Chongyang, once a rural autumn rite, later reborn as a symbol of unity and endurance in modern China.

Interesting point on the language being used today. Israeli: hostage. Palestinian: prisoner.

The same group has worked with UK anti-trans organisations too.

Such as people in Sex Matters, who have been driving the anti-trans shift in government policy.

The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.

Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.

And if we were having a debate about state enforced death penalty you may have a point to make. Child rapist getting sent to the hot place by a fellow inmate, nope, sorry, not a death penalty debate, and not something I am going to lose any sleep over taking the piss about.
