Hi. Mike here. Listen to me very carefully. After I'm gone, if anyone, anywhere, for any reason, attempts to use some piece of shit AI app/bot/thing to play a video of me weighing in on literally any topic, I would like you all to seize their device and smash it with a hammer.

Job listings for producers where the role is barely minimum wage, short term, no benefits, and the project that is "launching soon" is in critical danger of collapsing in on itself after years of mismanagement and burnout

i wouldn't mind AI if it was "here's a way to automate some extremely basic stuff" or "look at this goofy shit you can do here to dick around on your computer" - afaik but no one is asking for "we want to make a trillion dollars hopefully by destroying everything that makes life worth living"

lmao

That's ridiculous and can only be correct with horribly skewed averages + very biased sampling (both, in this case).

I was making $150k as a Senior Designer at Bungie with 15 years of industry experience in one of the highest-paying job markets in a high cost-of-living area with geopay

The thing about this is that not only do they have the money to hire illustrators, there’s so much of them available that can do this shit so much better, and we’ve all been out of work for an EXTENDED period of time
Call of Duty isn't even hiding the fact that loads of its calling cards and other unlockables are AI generated this year.

For one of the biggest video game franchises in the world this is pretty disgusting...

The best way journalists can support indie games is to cover more than whatever the current indie hits/darlings of the moment are. Games like Hades, Blue Prince, and Silksong do not need help with visibility, but discoverability is the biggest challenge facing many indie devs today.

I feel like a lot of democrats are engaged in a very big project to make us forget that the Biden administration and Harris 2024 campaign were mostly about fixing bridges
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

thank you to all the people + outlets who have covered Future Class. it’s largely a group of marginalized individuals; there are especially a lot of us in that group who are not white. to have the support of the industry and to have people speak up against how we have been treated is heartening.

At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

Can finally breathe a little bit since launch, and I honestly did not expect people to react this much or this well to my many words. The amount of people who thanked me for my vulnerability and for sharing was surprising.

Thank you for helping me celebrate, in a small way, this team. 🖤
POSSESSOR(S) is launching today.

I have been the producer on this project for three years, & the last few weeks have been difficult. Most of the team isn't around anymore to celebrate the launch, so I wrote many words about these incredible people to celebrate them.

They really don't seem to care. They're making a bunch of money tearing up the boards & seem wholly unconcerned with the fact that the ships they're on are rapidly coming apart. Like, eventually they'll take too much out & the ships go down but they aren't planning on going down with them.

Hey so, today is my last day at Crystal Dynamics apparently. I joined the company in 2018 to work on Marvel's Avengers and it's been the longest (and best) job I've ever had. It now means I'm looking for work, so if you know of any senior writer/narrative designer positions please send them my way.

The people who will most profit from this quality and connection-sapping technology being assumed to be inevitable, want you to give up on pushing against it today, by believing that fight is already over.

Don’t give in.
Don’t be fooled.
Don’t accept the thing already making our medium worse.

For folks who don't study education and developmental psychology: That second page is FAR more important. Pre-K is more about socialization than academics.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.
