Angus King accidentally said what we all feared when this started, that there was no way to get the ACA extension because Republicans are more dedicated to being evil than centrist Democrats to fighting for us and Republicans knew it.

Schumer and the Dems are about to teach Trump the lesson that they’ll cave whenever he abuses power to sufficiently hurt people.

The successes of @pelosi.house.gov as Speaker seem so much starker when paired with the unending uselessness of @schumer.senate.gov as the worst Democratic Senate Leader Ever.

The Rs lost to me four times in six years. That should've been a hint. But apparently it wasn't, so the voters made their thoughts crystal clear tonight.

If you think abusing SNAP is easy, you probably don't have first or even second hand experience with it.
as someone who was on SNAP four times let me tell you it would be *phenomenally hard* to exploit, they put *a lot of effort* into giving you *as little as possible* and are horrendously understaffed

if someone has managed to abuse the system they are Danny Ocean and you should respect the hustle
“some people abuse SNAP” your soul is rotten

It is a truth universally known that the more likely a rich person is to throw a Gatsby-themed party, they less likely they are to have ever read The Great Gatsby.
Trump is holding a Great Gatsby/Roaring 20s-themed party at his private club in Palm Beach tonight as he tries to withhold SNAP and health care subsidies from millions of Americans. (via Kellie Meyer)

I have no interest in ICP musically, but the more I learn about the culture and the people, the more I respect them. This is the objectively right answer. And it's true for all of us, "I used to suck. I hope I suck less now. I hope I suck even less tomorrow."

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

How is it worse to say some people in the GOP are deplorable? Deplorable is worse than violent criminal? Someone should count all the articles that were published about Clinton's comment and compare them with coverage of this and similar remarks.

This isn’t the whole story, of course – but if it’s not at the core of your story, you’re on the wrong track.

Add “Once democracy made it possible for women to threaten patriarchal domination and for queer people to publicly affirm their identity” – and we’re already very, very close.
Once American democracy made it possible for a Black man to be elected president, American conservatives decided that it had to be destroyed
While Vought traces the “leftwing revolution” back a hundred years, to the progressive era, there is no question that the election of Barack Obama was a radicalizing moment for him and many key thinkers on the radical Right - as were the multiracial protests in the summer of 2020.

Wait, liberals who care about politics won't pay for a conservative paper trying to pretend to be above politics? WHO COULD'VE SEEN THAT COMING?

This is why SCOTUS can't clam legitimacy right now
It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

According to the President of the United States, I'm an "animal" who needs to be "quell"ed by the US Military (but not by women or POC soldiers, per SecDef's wishes). So I have that going for me??

Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted in the coming days in the Eastern District of Virginia, where a prosecutor who opposed bringing the case was recently fired, three sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC.

I get that pretty much no one is a fan of Jim Comey. But the idea that he -knowingly and willfully lied to Congress- is just absurd on its face. We’ll see if a grand jury will really indict a ham sandwich, but I think it’s more likely the Trump admin will end up with egg on its face (again)

TV host says the right must "go to war" with the left? Pfft.

TV host says the government is cracking down on critics? Well, the government cracks down on him for the criticism.

This is true. And one reason Project 2029 needs to deal with regulating the ownership of media companies.
This is the essential point. This will go nowhere. 100% of the issue with all the other media suits is that a rogue president is a huge danger to a big diversified corp which also owns a media company. They can be hit everywhere. The NYT is just the NYT. No vulnerability.
Suspect the NYT lawsuit is very different to those brought against TV news networks. The NYT isn't part of a much larger corporate group, and it interacts much less with federal regulators. Their incentives to fight are much stronger (and it's *such* a flimsy lawsuit).
