This was written 280 years ago in a document about subduing the Highlands in Scotland. Nearly 3 centuries and we still see folk using exactly the same playbook and terminology and 'reasons'.

As the natives have still some arms amongst them, in spite of the good Endeavours of the Troops, some shift should befaln upon to strip them intirely of them, or a priviledge granted to the Colonies to have some to protect themselves and their Cattle from the fury and resentment of the Natives, who no doubt will look upon them as Invaders of their Rights, Spies on all their Actions, and Informers Established to lay open all their Evil practices.
It is easy to perceive by the General Savage Character of the people, that the thoughts of such Evils must kindle in their Breasts the blackest flames of Malice and Despair, and hurry them onto the perpetration of all the Evil Suggestions of their barbarous Inclinations, which according to Ancient Custome, will be the Murder of people of all Sexes and Ages, the burning of Houses, and the Cutting of Cattle to pieces with Swords, Durks or knives; yet if at first they meet with a vigourous resistance, it may be hoped that the impetuosity of their fury, will be in some measure allayed, and in a little time quite subside, and possibly hinder them from Rebelling for the future.

In Mar 2020 I wrote ep 3 of Leverage: Redemption, in which Brianna mentions growing up w/ "the return of actual Nazis". It aired in July 2021, AFTER a Capitol rioter wore a "Camp Auschwitz" shirt, & reviewers on IMDb quoted the Nazi line & complained Leverage had gone woke.

It had been quite the busy day and between running around the shops, doing the decorating and then the soothing release of the lines wrapped around him. He wasn’t sure how long he and Ed had lain in an emotionally tangled heap on the cushions in the living room, but it was certainly pitch dark outside by the time the eventually tumbled into bed.

Not to mention these kind of sensors have a tendency for racial bias in their programming. It's like digital sensors for even something as basic as a hand-dryer sometimes only react to paler skin tones.
