An excellent piece by Yasmin Khan in @theguardian.com – and I’m very relieved the preposterous case against her has been dropped. www.theguardian.com/food/comment...
I called my recipe book Sabzi – vegetables. But the name was trademarked. And my legal ordeal began
The granting of patents and trademarks to foods and words from the global south is part of a long colonial grab. It’s time to realise we share what we cook, and what we call it

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

My first full time job involved doing PR for an "internet fridge" in the early 2000s. At the time I quietly thought it was a silly fad that would pass. God I wish I'd been right.
This Pluribus ad on a fridge caused a schizophrenic woman named Carol to be hospitalized.

Anyway, here's my favorite passage in all of Tom Stoppard's work in what I think might be the greatest play written in the English language in the last century or so, not that everything has to be a competition, but one does like to make lists.
We shed as we pick up.

Eleven years ago, I wrote to Tom Stoppard to ask about this coup de théâtre from 1949. It took me down an unexpected rabbit hole - in memory of Stoppard, here's what I found.

Me about to piss off a bunch of capitalists: If Bezos doesn’t want to pay his fair share in corporate taxes, I don’t see why we shouldn’t nationalise Amazon and make it a subsidiary of the post office.

This is an incredibly powerful article by Peter Ettedgui. I hope people listen to him and to the others who are brave enough to come forward.

I don't use the word lightly, but this is really just evil isn't it. "Your identity makes us uncomfortable so be gone from public spaces." Fuck off.
I mean come on: we'll ask but reserve right to exclude you on the basis of how you look. Oh, and if you try to use your birth sex specific facilities we'll kick you out of those as well.

Get fucked.

Demons don't do anything they promise to, but we are told the next, even more lavish one will.

So much gold is being spent on summoning that apparently 'a bubble' is about to burst and then everything will be a lot worse for a long time, and none of the people responsible will suffer in any way.

The demons pretend to be neutral but they are not, and they aren't living, they are demons. They are made at out of sand, rare metals and lightning.

They aren't living but they do drink. If you ask a demon a question it will become thirsty, and they insist on fresh water.

Demons are always spying on you, that's part of the deal and if they help you make something, then they can now make a copy of it, forever.

We are currently waiting to see the lawmakers are going to punish the demon summoners for stealing a copy of every book ever written by a human.

A demon can pretend to make art and even give the illusion of living people for a short time, but they cannot create anything actually original because demons only steal.

We are now in a demon summoning war. The powerful groups have convinced themself whoever gets the most powerful demon wins.

The demon seller is very good at selling the idea of demons to the bosses ('more gold for you!') so your job and things you own are trying to trick you into using demons or forcing you to see a demon.

Sometimes demons do terrible things, deadly things and the summoner just sighs.

It's weird to live in a time when some mad guy has worked out how to summon demons, and he says the demons can do jobs for cheaper!

But the demons don't do a good job at all, oh and as well as paying them, every time you want them to do a job you have to chop down a tree.
