I will always make space for people to grow and change, because I did, but a big part of that means accepting what you were/were taught was WRONG and not pretending everything was fine. If she can’t do that, she hasn’t changed at all, and distrust is a natural reaction.

I knew she had to be more important than she seemed. The hallmarks were there. Secret radio operator, ruthlessly coordinating panicky half-trained agents while smoothly running the boutique, keeping Luthen on track. Kleya’s been a badass from the start. She just got to shine more in season 2.

Why put out this study at all?

Anti-trans policy requires a belief that being trans is a trend. If the numbers of people ID'ing as trans is shown to have major fluctuations, it can be used to argue that trans identity is fake and social contagion. That's the point of this whole project.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Just knowing what was happening with my brain let me make accommodations. I do actually have meds now, and they make a difference! It’s much easier to switch tasks and get things done (esp. stuff I don’t want to do).

I’m competent and good at masking my shortcomings, especially with authority figures. Found a therapist on my own, and she went to bat for me with a second doctor who almost didn’t believe me again because I mask so goddamn hard.

Yeeep. When I went in I just wanted help figuring out what was going on with my brain. Wasn’t looking for meds or a diagnosis. Instead I got a lecture, told I wouldn’t be given meds (I didn’t ask for) and that I wouldn’t get help finding a therapist either. Asshole was wrong and wasted my time.

It’s very possible you have some flavor of ADHD! It can be hard to get a diagnosis unless you get someone who knows it has more presentations than “little white cis boy who acted up in class”. First doc I saw told me I couldn’t have it because I’m too smart and I managed to graduate college. Wrong.
