Definitely not sarcasm
If SCOTUS is going to argue that the District Court order on November 18 "alter[ed] the election rules on the
eve of an election," why do other states think they can continue to redistrict? 🤔
/sarcasm

The only way I can see this stay making any sense is that SCOTUS plans to declare the 14th Amendment null and void.
“Yes, yes, we can see all your ‘facts’ and all the adorable little ‘evidence,’ but you failed to consider that none of that matters if we all close our eyes and pretend the Texas GOP actually had pure motives here, you stupid little rubes.”
The dripping contempt the right wing SCOTUS majority holds for district judges is truly a sight to behold every time. When they deign to give actual reasons for their shadow docket holdings, it’s “look at the absolute idiots who keep getting everything wrong!”

Yeah this is bad. Trump admin appears to be laying the groundwork to purge regional Fed presidents, all of whom are up for reappointment in February.

Me too and I’m not a Catholic.
Lindsey Graham is asking us to choose between him and the Pope. I'm following the Pope.

Chip caught the nonsensical fast-babbling disease from Trump.

Neither have I, although I heard plenty in George Wallace’s Alabama. Tolerating this says much about the U.S. and us.
Yes, this is worth listening to.

In my very long memory of public affairs, have never heard a public statement by a "president" (a) more alarming in mental health terms, and also (b) more overtly racist and hate-filled.

Watch carefully the sycophants around Trump as he rants. They *all* know...
I hope people take two minutes to listen to this shocking display of bigotry. It brings clarity to what we are fighting against. We should all be sick to hear such un-American drivel from the President of the United States.

Is Tennessee becoming a surveillance state? Looks like communism.

Great example of vote dilution. Designed to destroy democracy by undermining ‘one person one vote.’ Keep up the fight; expose the corrupt politicians.
1. Amazon has become a major force in how cities, counties & schools buy basic supplies. Our new report finds Amazon is using opaque pricing algorithms to drive up costs and eliminate transparency—while harming competition by pushing out better-performing independent suppliers.

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

In 2000, almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels. By 2024, 90% of their electricity was from renewables. ⚡ Energy transitions can happen faster than we think!

Seconded.

The purges and politicization are incredibly serious, and even in the best case scenario will leave us with a lasting problem.

Absolutely true. But we need to stop the deterioration now by supporting the military professionals. They are being forced out.
To longtime critics of the US military:

You're not totally wrong. But recognize that there's variation within, many officers are honorable professionals who value law and ethics, and power shifting to those who don't is worse.

Whatever past actions you identify as bad is not as bad as it could be.

Texas Tech University System Chancellor Brandon Creighton on Monday imposed restrictions on how faculty discuss race, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation in classrooms and introduced a new course content approval process.
Texas Tech System restricts race and gender teaching
Tech, now the second Texas public university system to add similar teaching restrictions, had earlier directed faculty to follow state and federal guidance recognizing only two sexes.

There is a second concern. A military following illegal orders quickly loses the support of the public. That has probably already started.

Texas was settled by Hispanics, and before them native peoples. These folks found that the whites who flooded Texas did not assimilate well because they brought bad practices such as slaveholding and land grabbing.
How Republicans commemorated Thanksgiving in 1869--with a multi-racial/multi-ethnic gathering of people at a table with a centerpiece celebrating universal suffrage and self-government, and with an engraving of Castle Garden, the pre-Ellis Island point of disembarkation for immigrants.

Looking forward to the incredible network analyses that will come from the Epstein files.

I had the ‘pleasure’ of interviewing a farmer’s wife in rural Washtenaw County. She had opinions, but her husband kept interrupting. Maybe women weren’t submissive, but husbands tried to be dominant.
I am saying that none of these social scientists collected data that can test those claims. E.g., they did not ask husbands if they told their wives how to vote, or vice versa. Some men might have told their wives how to vote, but we cannot determine if and how widespread from their research.

Whatever these guys wrote, by the late 60’s they were teaching the ‘same environment’ mantra. But then there was a woman’s movement.

Congratulations, fellow yellowhammer!
