every time i drop mail in this box, i think about this interaction and how nice it was and how glad i am to be collaborating with a neighbor to keep this box around (hopefully)📬
had a nice interaction the other day at the mailbox across from the street from the salon — a neighbor was mailing something out at the same time and we had a chat about how we try to use this box frequently so it doesn’t get relocated, haha

I don't think people misunderstand separation ordinances intentionally, but I do think they are misunderstood and I think it's because the role of criminalization gets de-emphasized or forgotten.

That doesn't mean separation ordinances are meaningless or that they aren't real – people will argue that this is the case whenever cops do a thing like St. Paul's did yesterday – but it does mean they are not a panacea, and it does mean that you can't ignore criminalization and defend immigrants.

The crucial connection for understanding how strong separation ordinances between police and ICE are is the connection between criminalization and ICE. If the cops can argue that they're dealing with a criminal issue, a separation ordinance can, depending on how it's written, lose all of its power.

"A situational eroticism is what is needed now, in our literalist times. It’s exhausting, how everything is so readily defined by types, acts, traumas, kinks, fetishes, pathology and aesthetics. To me, our predilection for determinism is an expected psychological response to excessive surveillance."
