Boosting to get this one cleared
As I put GoFundMes up on the website, I also don't want really small asks like this one to get lost.

Karla is a mom of three and her husband was detained by ICE. She is only asking for $2800 and has only raised $684.

worth noting: many immigrant-owned restaurants are closed entirely right now out of fear of their safety, and others are staying quiet for obvious reasons. @allisonanne.com is raising funds for one group of out of work latino restaurant workers. please link me to any other campaigns like this!

pow wow grounds, moona moono, briar bar, a bar of their own—i spoke with these folks and many more about their role in this ongoing federal invasion, and about the "overwhelming support" and "massive" scale of donations that are flooding in to support immigrants, organizers, and ICE observers.

$826 raised at time of posting — we’ve set a loose goal of $4,000, which would mean we’d be able to give each family $800. thank you to everyone who has pitched in through reposts and donations so far ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

The Powderhorn Park neighborhood has been the biggest target of immigration enforcement in Minnesota. It’s home to a large immigrant community who is now struggling to pay rent. Kidnappings are on the rise because people cannot stay home. Please help us out. Link is in my bio.

For the morning crowd: the full notes/slides/report-back from last night’s workshop on how artists can respond to this moment BEYOND our art.

Even if you couldn’t make it, there is some really useful, practical stuff in the notes:
"Artists have more to offer than our art."

Thanks to the hundreds of people who shared ideas and examples at our event focused on practical, down-to-earth ways artists can show up.

Here is the post-event report-back: notes, slides, collaborative "padlets," and more resources. Please put it to use:

In Mpls (& much of MN), we now say this any time anyone has to go outside at all.

Because disabled people are getting cut out of their cars & put in federal detention when they try to go to the Dr.

They're entering clinics.

Chemical weapons on school grounds.

Grocery store lots.

Bus stops.
Please text me when you get home so I know you are safe. You know, just in case.

Last I heard, this was the guidance on how to report abductions.

Monarca: (612)441-2881
CAIR-MN: (612) 206-3360 (24/7)
ILCM: (651) 641-1011 (M-Th, 1-3pm)
MIRAC: [email protected]

DO NOT REPORT ICE SIGHTINGS Just abductuons. And if the person was a protestor or observer, call NLG, (612) 444-2654.

Even just a name can put in motion efforts that get someone released. If they're a citizen, we can get them jail support. If they're an immigrant, there are groups working overtime to file habeas petitions before they're whisked out of state. But it starts with a name.
If you see one, the most important thing to say is “WHAT’S YOUR NAME” because otherwise the person is gone for good, maybe. I witnessed one in an alley as the sole pursuit car, I was the only witness, I froze for a second and didn’t shout it in time, and the guy is just… gone now. I’ll never know.
