I largely do not read books written by men and when I do they’re non-fiction. I have very little interest in fiction written by men (I think the last I read was probably Raymond Carver?).

I’m reading John Ganz’ WHEN THE CLOCK BROKE and whenever Ross Perot comes up I can only picture Katrina Johnson’s portrayal on All That
a screenshot from the tv show All that, showing a child dressed up like Ross Perot and holding a drill

nice #LocalAngle in Blake Schwarzenbach’s wikipedia article
Writing and art

In 2004, Samantha Gillison commented on Blake's literary and artistic endeavors in City Pages:

...his writing has expanded beyond lyrics and liner notes. Employing Michel Foucault's theory of spontaneous and local anarchy, his artistic self-expression now includes deeply felt political essays, children's stories, and graphic representation in the form of agitprop stickers that have wound up on New York City cop cars, subway ads, Starbucks windows, and Fox News vans. And with what he calls "deep human hunger," he has delved into the world of filmmaking, starting with a Cindy Sherman-esque short entitled
"Biko/Chico" that stars his cat and muse Chico Schwarzenbach.

MPD hasn’t earned enough goodwill in this city for us to be generous with our interpretation of a situation involving them. if MPD is in the area where state violence is occurring, it’s a safe assumption that they are helping do the state violence.

“I think there’s this old idea that you need to be ASSIGNED a story, or given permission to pursue something, when in reality all you need is to be a nosy bitch with a smartphone. You’d be amazed at how open people are to talking if you simply ask.”

New — I was fortunate to speak in front of students and faculty at Grinnell College in Iowa tonight about the business of independent journalism, the current state of media under Trump 2.0, and billionaire control.

I published my full speech because I thought it might resonate beyond campus:
Truth, morality and independence in journalism under the second Trump regime

this really embodies what i love about living in cities. i sincerely hope dallas doesn't lose city hall.
West, the Dallas City Council member, told the Dallas Morning News that because the land City Hall sits on is so valuable, it would only be "prudent" to consider selling the building and allowing it to be demolished. Alston, the preservationist, said that losing City Hall would be more than just losing a piece of real estate.

"Cities have a soul, if you will," Alston said. "Cities that we all want to go to and experience have substantial amounts of buildings and features from their past blended with their future."

"You gotta remember who you are and where you came from," Alston said.

great stuff from gwen as always
Hasson's lawyers say these posts illustrate the Zionism that is integral to his Jewish identity, and as well as his "public celebration and support of his Jewish race, religion, and national origin." Hasson also accuses the organizers of the Battle for Bryan of platforming "Holocaust Inversion" by admitting Smash players who have accused Israel of committing genocide, an accusation leveled by many scholars, independent experts affiliated with the United Nations, prominent politicians and political candidates around the world, and officials in South Africa.
