Have you ever done salsa verde with ground cherries/ pineapple tomatillos? I really like doing salsa verde and putting in at least half a pound of ground cherries in place of half a pound of regular tomatillos. There are some in this batch, but not nearly as many as I would like.

Not bad for a couple hours' work! It's a little bit runny because the cilantro isn't there, but I made green salsa that my kid and the neighbors can enjoy eating.

They are sitting on a fluffy kitchen towel that is dark pink with white grid on it, and there is an orange and white printed cotton gingham dish towel off to the left. Five of them are fully sealed and labeled, five of them have not yet fully sealed and been labeled.

Yeah I'm in the process of completely overhauling what used to be our vegetable garden to be co-plantings of things like ground cherries, black, currants, black raspberries, and strawberries with enough hot peppers and marigolds and sunflowers and alliums to help keep them out.

My neighbors have had to build a large walk-in chicken wire cage to get any sort of produce to happen, our neighborhood squirrels are extremely aggressive, they ended up having to train their plants along the roof of their cage!

You can't drink it yet, it's too hot.

Stainless steel pot mostly full of salsa Verde. Lightly simmering on the stove. It is golden green, and you can see little bits of tomatillo, onion, jalapeno, etc. Along with some of the bits of charred skin because everything got roasted before it got put in here.

This is the first year my neighbors grew them, and they started panicking when I asked them if they had one plant or two plants because they thought they only had one, turns out it was two seedlings in that tiny pot so they got mountains!

There's a big pile of unripe tomatillos, unripe tomatoes, green peppers, and fully ripe red jalapenos left, considering making a batch of kitchen sink green tomato salsa tomorrow. I'll have to see what's left.
