Temps are dropping and our AC motor is also our heating motor cuz this house is super old (and frankly we have old systems that need to be replaced..along with the millions of other renovations needed) Trying to get this resolved before it's a pressing emergency.

Kiddo couldn't even remember the last time he had Cornish hens, because I haven't made them since he was about 5. So it hasn't quite been a decade, but close. He was just really, really happy and thanked me very sincerely for not making turkey. It's good to have my traditions back.

Next time I will leave more space between sweet potatoes etc. underneath them, I feel like that's a beginner's mistake. They were inconveniently juicy even though they were fully cooked, so I should have left more space and or let them go a little longer.
Kiddo didn't want his skin to brown too much, selective tenting was only partially effective, but this will do for a first meal cooked in the new Dutch oven, and the first birds I've roasted in about a decade.

Update: I am currently giving her another round of scratches, and she keeps pulling back and looking at my hands like "WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT" because I have cut them down.
Nobody loves me more than my cat does on the days leading up to the one when I wake up and realize that my fingernails have gotten too long for me to cope.

Forgot to post this last night. Brine ingredients before I added the water and honey mustard, which I had to substitute instead of Dijon so we weren't sending some poor shopper into the Black Friday mess for a single jar of mustard at 8:30 p.m.
