pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

This was a fascinating listen. Intriguing to hear from a person on the inside about how defending someone at the International Criminal Court works.

This is currently my top advice for using the NZ medical system.

Ask your practitioner if they're using AI to transcribe your patient notes, whether to transcribe their dictation (bad) or to generate a transcription from listening to the consult (appalling). If they say yes, ask them not to.

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness)

As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

I have a particular fondness for Bara Brith, the traditional Welsh fruit-speckled tea bread. My late sister Thomasina lived and worked in Wales, and my first taste of it came courtesy of her next door...

This is a great piece from Mel Saward on some of the First Nations books that should have appeared on RN's Top 100 Books of the 21st Century.
The ABC’s Top 100 books poll lacks diversity. Here are my 10 First Nations ‘books of the 21st century’
Just three Aboriginal writers appeared in Radio National’s poll. There was little sense of the breadth and creativity of our First Nations writing scene.
