The fact that surgeons defend unnecessary/deferable surgeries on intersex children with "techniques have improved" shows how deeply amoral and devoid of ethics these people are. It wouldn't matter if you surgery was perfect it would still be a violation of human rights.

I remember when we had a carbon tax and it worked really well at reducing emissions then we repealed it because we live in a country run by idiots
OH MY GOD thank you Chris - Australia's Safeguard mechanism is pretty much the same (and worse in many ways as its open to external carbon credits as well as 'in-scheme' ones)

We've seen ultra-polluters *being paid* more, even w/ rising emissions

I'm genuinely starting to wonder if something released hallucinogenic gas into the Microsoft HQ because this is so unhinged I don't know what to say
No issue of the Product Picnic this week (due to an overbooked flight, I'm AFB and hadn't brought my computer with me; I don't prewrite the newsletters to keep the content fresh).

Instead, enjoy this single curated link.

Angry users are telling Windows giant that they’re “not a baby” and don’t need a chatbot “shoved” in their face.

Started working on a tiny version of my Gate Crushers series, starting with the flag bearer.

Those epic scale minis are sooooo tiny, a real challenge to paint. Even had to use a magnifier to do my tiniest edge highlights and smallest glazes ever.

Anyway, hope you like that start, more to come ^^

Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

This is why they want robot servants even if they cost far more than human employees
rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

My contribution to the game difficulty debate is I made an SMB3 style platformer with a mode where dying simply pops you back up immediately on a flying cloud and with cheats beyond that

Just like I made a turn-based roguelike with a mode that gives you infinite lives, which also has a cheat menu

There's talk of "victory of the nerds" but something got lost along the way. Time was "nerd" meant "enthusiast" (is "otaku" clearer?). US massmarket nerd-dom isn't for enthusiasts. Disney/Sony sells you a pipe of things you probably like. Enthusiasts don't want to like things, they want to love them
