One thing I keep hearing about my puzzle game INFLUX REDUX is "i didn't think i would like it because i'm not into puzzle games but it isn't what i expected". WELL. I made it and I'm not into puzzle games either. OR ball rolling games. I haven't played ANYTHING. so buy it and find out if you like it
Hey everyone! The remaster I've been working on for like 6 years is out! It's a remaster of my 11 year old game InFlux! It's a marble-rolling puzzle game! You can buy it! Please leave positive reviews for it so the algo doesn't immediately bury it?!?! Ily

trust nobody who doesn't like anything shit or hate anything good
This is the number one issue I find with junior game designers (and unfortunately, non-designers who think anyone can design). So many people cannot tell the difference between "a game I like" and "a game that's designed well" and they get REAL mad if you point out there's a difference
begging people to learn to separate “i like it” with “it’s good.”

i like some things that are objectively crap. you can admit that you do too. it’s fine

At work (on @sleightofhand.game), we now have level designers constantly slammin' new maps in and updating older ones. It got hard to make sure I played them all, so I made this editor tool which just displays all levels in order of when they were last saved!
Sorta more annoying to do than expected

"i would have simply made a work that didn't trigger the invisible hand of an anonymous valve employee with a highly specific unknowable beef"

"and if i did, i would throw away that project and start anew, confident somehow that this new project would not suffer the same fate"

this again but from steam defenders about Santa Ragione
to be specific, the exact energy being manifested by the itch hating crowd is "mark wahlberg re 9/11"

Narrative design is seen as "expendable" because it's not "top-level game design", says BAFTA Breakthrough participant Cara Ellison. But narrative is "the thing that actually keeps people picking the controller back up."

I recently played some of BG&E for the first time and man, it sure seems like a good thing the version of 2 pictured here was cancelled, because what on earth were they thinking

Also, not a tall order game to make a sequel to at fucking all. What is the holdup. Give it to Double Fine at this point
Unbelievably, 17 years after its original announcement, Ubisoft appears to still be hiring for Beyond Good and Evil 2

folks underestimate the crediting issue on games. when you get fucked on a credit you tend not to want to make a big deal of it, it could make you look bad, and you're never gonna get it changed

i bet most devs, if you check their portfolios you're gonna find games whose credits they're not in

I just remembered to be mad at the fact that, I'm told, none of the people who worked on VTMB2 at Hardsuit before it was ripped from them by Paradox and shat out by The Chinese Room ended up being credited, only Special Thanksed. Who else wants to get mad

still looking for level design work!

I can work in Unreal, Unity, and probably whatever in-house engine you'll throw at me. I have worked on DLC for Sniper Elite 5, various community mod projects, and custom maps for TF2 and Half-Life 2.

Totally ludicrous that steam is happy to allow its monopolistic store to be flooded with waves of tasteless, tacky bullshit, including borderline scams, and yet will bring itself to intervene when a game's artistic sensibilities don't align with their incredibly vague, nondescript values
