I ran a small journalism program in this school district for a few years. Almost all of my students were immigrants or children of immigrants, and they were fantastic people. They don’t deserve this shit.

It’s notable that the president can go on TV and be a total gutter racist, and somehow this isn’t news in the slightest. Says a lot about the sickness of American society right now.

I’m convinced that all the people yelling at us to go get killed by our army and police think that we all wear cowboy hats while surfing and shooting guns in the air after our big breakfast of hamburgers and barbecue.
I think a lot of the world looks at the US and sees 330 million spoiled, stupid rich people and I wish it was easier to explain why that's wrong to people who've only seen New York and maybe DC or LA, but you can never convince them that they don't understand the whole thing.
