On my third listen, I'm not sure which is more stunning: How methodical Page was in building his career and then his band, or the second? biggest band ever came out of merging the Yardbirds' "rave up" style with Bert Jansch and then stealing a bunch of songs.

Of course, there is absolutely no such thing as a best lyricist for myriad reasons, not least because what qualifies as a "good lyric" depends very much on the whole song.

A big takeaway from @500songspodcast.bsky.social is that bands could actually live off of music before they were famous. To have the chance to spend a few years trying to make it, even on little money would be amazing. But it's not an option anymore. Make you wonder what we've lost in music.
