FINALLY signed up to @500songspodcast.bsky.social on Patreon. Sorry, Andrew I keep meaning to do it.

It immediately asked me to send Andrew a message telling him what kind of content I want. I want the content Andrew creates, thanks. No notes! 10/10.

That is a weird feature!

I didn’t realize this season would be haunted by covers of the Huddie Ledbetter song Cotton Fields but @500songspodcast.bsky.social is like that some times. And Al Jardine sure sings pretty.
But here’s the Creedence Clearwater Revival episode:
Song 181: “Proud Mary” by Creedence Clearwater Revival
This episode, we look at the song “Proud Mary” and the brief but productive career of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Click the full post to read liner notes, links to more information, a…

Still tweaking this Jimmy Cliff script, hoping to record tomorrow night when I get back from the gig I'm going to (in a ska-appropriate way, it's Madness).

You would not *believe* the rabbit holes I've had to go down just to firm up information that takes a single sentence.

RIP, indeed. When "Green Onions" came on the radio at the end of the news this morning, everyone's head started bopping immediately. I told the kids that this was, without a doubt, one of the coolest songs ever recorded.
Rest in peace, mighty Steve Cropper.

If you want to hear more about the fantastic guitarist, songwriter and producer he was, he features in two episodes of the podcast.

Below you can listen to Episode 105: “Green Onions” by Booker T and the MGs.

Listened to the @500songspodcast.bsky.social patreon ep on Lee “Scratch” Perry, and one of the most (Accidental) Death of the Author moments for me was learning that Small Axe apparently wasn’t a political song about the the downtrodden standing up to the Downpressor Men.

I wonder…
tell me of your favorite podcasts that are just one person droning about stuff. I'm so tired of jibber jabber. I want no witty repartee. Free me from the prison of chattering besties. Just one person, and some subject matter. I don't give a fuck what it is. If it doesn't have any music, even better
