Judge Graber, who is no firebrand, wrote quite a dissent—encouraging en banc review and some patience on the part of the public:

signal is the birth control pill of phone encryption, it’s 99.99% effective when used correctly. the only way to be 100% assured of fail-proof safety is to never use Phone, but abstinence-only education doesn’t work, so
i feel like every time i see someone calling signal insecure it only takes a few questions for them to eventually arrive at one of two conclusuons:
- encryption isn't real you idiot
- signal is insecure because someone can drug you and beat you with a $5 wrench until you unlock your phone

i still think the defining moment of the obama administration, for me, is when an abolitionist asked about trans women in women's prisons during a presser. the rest of the press pool booed her and she was removed. after, obama said "not in my house" and everyone cheered.
Trump's like the most American president there ever has been. Like Obama is who we want to pretend to be and notice he was charming and competent and also murderous and somewhat craven. But Trump is like the Mr Hyde of America. He's what the world correctly sees us as. Gaudy, stupid, belligerent.

The entire "free speech on campus" moral panic was manufactured to blackmail us into making space in intellectual life for bigots and charlatans who couldn't get there on their own merits. Its a DEI scheme for fascism. Congratulations to everyone who took it at face value.
“Following his lecture, Yarvin will debate the legendary British historian David Starkey on history and the future of conservatism.” Everything about this is so cursed. Masks off at the University of Oxford.

it is very annoying to have people keep going “no purity tests, we need a big tent” when it is very clear that they mean to exclude you as a trans person from the big tent. big tent for me and my more conservative friends and not for thee

I always wondered why France had so many heists but if you can still just put a ladder up to a window on the Louvre in the year 2025 and get away with a big bag full of priceless jewels I guess that solves the mystery

The main achievement of the tech industry has been increasing the flow of money from people who make or do things to people who already have more money than they could spend in a hundred lifetimes
“Average musician makes $12 a month on Spotify. The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”

You know how billionaires end up with severe cognitive deficits as a result of becoming surrounded by yes men who constantly tell them their every idea is genius? What if we made a bot that just does that to everyone. I think that would be a good idea.

I will bring it up every chance I get but Jake Tapper and Dana Bash made up a quote of Rashida Tlaib's out of thin air, did over a dozen segments about it combined over the course of a week and a half, and then both were forced to retract it and offer up a weak apology after threats of being sued.
That’s very interesting on Dana Bash’s part given this weekends events. She’s unserious.

seems that RFK is clearing the path for his CDC to do tuskegee syphillis experiments as a matter of course. in other news, RFK is a genuine monster who relishes in the pain and suffering of those he feels he has control or dominion over
RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will “volunteer” for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.
