I guess we are doing intros here. I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in SUD. My page is a mix of all my interests and I refuse to make a solely professional page. Expect cat photos, plant photos, sci fi book recs, harm reduction, and me getting to rediscover my love of New England.

“Young adults aren’t having enough kids” bro I’m employed full-time with a damn PhD and I’m struggling to afford both groceries and rent.

I love kids but I can barely afford my pets.

Want us to have kids? Try UBI, rent control, universal healthcare, cheaper child care.

2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.
I love the episode of future man where they break into James Cameron’s home youtu.be/XYL82LwDtyg?...

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

A.
Well, I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic.
When I

set down the path to make that film, the first thing that I did

was arrange to be introduced to the head of the submersible

You know what else affects sperm count and fertility?

Covid.

Yet these guys tell you it’s big big deal.

They make vaccines harder to access.

They tell people not to trust the experts.

Covid causes erectile dysfunction, low motility and declining sperm counts.
RFK Jr: "Today the average teenager in this country has 50% of the sperm count, 50% of the testosterone of a 65 year old man. Our girls are hitting puberty 6 years early ... our parents aren't having children."

can't deport them somewhere they want to go
So Kilmer Abrego-Garcia will not challenge a deportation to Costa Rica, who has agreed to for him residency, but DHS won’t agree to send him there because it’s not cruel enough.

www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/u...
For weeks, Mr. Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who is married to a U.S. citizen, has made clear that he would not challenge his deportation if he were sent to Costa Rica, which has promised him legal residency and guaranteed that he would not be sent back to El Salvador.

But the Trump administration has refused to deport him to Costa Rica, and in an earlier hearing this week, Judge Xinis pressed the administration to consider the option or clarify why it was unacceptable.

Uni administrators and trustees: No, not THAT kind of viewpoint diversity
I will say though I’ve always had a level of distrust of them because they sent me home with what turned out to be appendicitis.
This is horrifying. If Fenway is caving things are really bad.
Fenway health in Boston has stopped providing gender affirming care to trans youth.

I was previously on the board of this organization and I've never been so disgusted with their leadership cowardly capitulating like this.

In the case of Mr. Cruz, we have a very literal "show me your papers" arrest.

He was chilling with a friend when ICE officers demanded to see his papers. He didn't have them on him, so they detained him and interrogated him. He was eventually released — but with the ticket.
Rueben Antonio Cruz was sitting with a friend in Rogers Park when ICE agents pulled up onto the street.
The immigration officers stopped their truck and went straight after them on Oct. 9, Cruz told the Tribune.
“They asked us if we have papers. I said I do but I don’t have them on me,” Cruz, a 60-year old man with heart problems originally from El Salvador, recalled in Spanish.
The agents stood Cruz up, put him in their truck, drove around in circles, and asked questions, he said.
Where was he born? What is his name? Who is his mother? Who is his father?
“I told them, they are dead,” Cruz said. The agents said they needed the information anyway so they could look him up in their databases. Eventually, the agents verified that he is, in fact, legally in the country. And they let him go.
But not before writing him a $130 ticket for not having his papers. Cruz’s friend, who is homeless, did not have legal status and was taken away by the feds.

What I'd love people to take from the Portland Frog (and the other inflatable costumes) is both that wearing an inflatable costume to a protest can create cool viral visuals AND that you need to just try shit.
I am home. Harrow is being a Velcro kitty and getting tons of hugs.
It’s validating that the report made it to the investigation step.
