NEW: The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did.

We found more than 170 such incidents since the start of the second Trump administration. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes nearly 20 children, two of whom have cancer.

AI has a lot of issues but a big one is the way it’s used to :

- demonize basic real emotional desires and needs
- the inability to just straight up and say

“ there is something maladaptive and ill intentioned about wanting to have a digital slave “
“The more ways that a student reports that their school uses AI, the more likely they are to report things like 'I know someone who considers AI to be a friend,' 'I know someone who considers AI to be a romantic partner.'"
1 in 5 high schoolers has had a romantic AI relationship, or knows someone who has
A national survey of students, teachers and parents shines a light on how the AI revolution is playing out in schools – including when it comes to bullying and a community's trust in schools.

Award-winning pain researcher here. This is not something that can be done. Hope this helps.
“In nursing homes, neonatal units, and ICU wards, researchers are racing to turn pain—medicine’s most subjective vital sign—into something a camera or sensor can score as reliably as blood pressure.”
AI is changing how we quantify pain

There are two types of people on this. Those that believed these you g republicans when they told you they were "trolling" 8 years ago, and those who didn't believe they were trolling.
They have 100% always been this way, though notably the transition from helicopter rides and referencing crushing minorities abroad humorlessly transitioned to nazi shit, but like that's basically a new layer of paint instead of a new perspective.

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.
That's why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed -because Young Republicans weren't radical enough.

Brett Kavanaugh is basically arguing tha there have been "sufficient remedies" for racism.

This seems like a good time to bring up the @politico.com about how young Republicans have *remedied* racism.

this is today's Supreme Court oral argument on the Voting Rights Act in a nutshell
This is the result of a lot of people pretending racism is one of the greatest taboos in our culture while failing to address racism substantively. People are appalled by the idea of being called racist while being totally committed to upholding racism throughout society.
Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

Kavanaugh looking to find the "end point" when the Court no longer has to worry about the intentional use of race to create black districts.
I'd say "WHEN WHITE FOLKS STOP INTENTIONALLY USING RACE TO DECREASE BLACK VOTING POWER" but he thinks white people doing that is cool.

Abortion should be accessible to anyone who wants one, and restrictions on healthcare and bodily autonomy are bad enough. But there’s also this extra blast radius of harm. As abortion restrictions have spread, I have increasingly been made to feel like a pre-pregnant incubator, even in a blue state.

I’ve refilled my RA medication monthly for 2+ years without issue. This month, I was repeatedly pressed about pregnancy, which has never happened (I also cannot get pregnant as I lack the required organs). Apparently, this has been a thing since Roe fell:

Methotrexate treats rheumatoid arthritis, but it can also end a pregnancy. In anti-abortion states, some women can't access this RA medication. Learn more.

Here's the thing.

I feel like, if you'd spoken to a group of women, of any & all backgrounds, they could have predicted this. Same-same Black people. Same-same LGBTQIA+ folks. Same-same Jews.

I'm never surprised when men ~joke~ about raping women & non-Jews about shoving Jews into ovens.

This is cool after the war on everything called “porn” by platforms and payment processors. A machine that stole all your words can generate and sell “erotica” but you can’t haaa
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.
Not to mention, it turned out at least half of the prominent New Atheists decided that allying with the Christian Right was better than not harassing people
It strikes me as more than a little ironic that the new atheists spent years itching for a fight between science and folks like the Christian Right because they assumed science would win.

Well, we're now having that fight and we're all talking about generational damage to science.

August 2026. Massive heatwaves kill 1000s of Americans, mostly low-income and elderly, because as a society we decided it was more important to be able to create pervy deepfake videos of the girl next door than to power air conditioners.
