I'm laughing out loud because, *twenty years ago*, a friend in robotics told me that showing off a dancing robot is what you do when your robot sucks, and a *group* of them even more so.

Listen to the response to this and look how easy it is to say it.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Mr Ecuador. Look at how happy he is. This is a chap who is just *thrilled* to be there. Also look at how tiny his feet look peeping out of those giant fluffy trousers.

“I’m old enough to remember when mainstream British politicians, who should know better, stirred up racial hatred as a path to power. You’re old enough to remember too because it was last Tuesday. And it was Robert Jenrick”

Cathartic anger at flag-flying racism.

when we talk about political theatre sometimes being Good, Actually™️, this is what we mean. the trads are the reason Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament came back in fashion in the youth ministry world (where I learned about it). they take it REALLY seriously. this priest weaponized that so adroitly

More here from the Sing the Score podcast - this Victoria Alma Redemptoris is on my coma list [1] together with the Brahms Requiem, Elgar Cello Concerto (Du Pre) and Kindertotenlieder (Janet Baker).

Oh, and @ifagiolini.bsky.social recordings are world beating. If you haven’t already, go and buy everything they’ve ever done, but particularly their Monteverdi albums and the Leonardo: Shaping the Invisible project

FOR THE RECORD:

* iTunes no longer handles music at all, that’s now Apple Music
* iTunes handles podcasts and audiobooks
* Apple Music can’t rip CDs, iTunes can
* When iTunes rips a CD, it stores it in the Audiobooks subdirectory of your library, whence you can then import it to Apple Music

You wouldn't believe the number of morons on Twitter pretending that a temporary exhibition of vinyl stickers at Canterbury Cathedral is permanent graffiti, just so they can feel outraged. Then JD Vance joins in, because clearly this is an international crisis.

I understand and appreciate efforts to work with AI in teaching and research for well-specified reasons and purposes but only so long as it's acknowledged AI in education is also and mainly a public problem for the sector that still needs addressing

AI in education is a public problem
Photo by Mick Haupt on Unsplash Over the past year or so, a narrative that AI will inevitably transform education has become widespread. You can find it in the pronouncements of investors, tech ind…

Hi hello did you know that Elon Musk's third Neuralink patient (previously nonverbal) is "getting help from Grok" to communicate

and I hope -- I REALLY HOPE -- he's not stuck in his own brain listening as a robot talks for him without his input because this, to me, would be worse than death
This patient’s Neuralink brain implant gets a boost from generative AI
A patient who types with his brain thanks to a Neuralink implant is using AI chatbots to speed things up.

Also glad that Zack backed that up with the point about NHS waiting times.

A common transphobic gotcha (a favourite of Ricky Gervais as I recall) is "why don't you get your dick off then?"

Because it's a multi-decade waiting list if I'm lucky or £27000 and extended sick leave last I checked.

iTunes itself no longer plays music, and my computer denies it’s even installed - however re-running the installer program instead gives me the option to start the iTunes app.

Interestingly, I *have* four CDs but can’t work out how to listen to them through Apple Music as it doesn’t acknowledge my CD drive. iTunes sees the drive and will claim it’s importing the tracks to my library, but the files are then nowhere to be found.

Like, before I knowingly met my first trans person (I'd met stealth ones before that, I later found out) I had what I suspect is the standard well-meaning ignoramus' attitude of "trans women are weird blokes, but they're doing no harm". But as soon as I met on it was just "oh OK, she's a woman. Duh"

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”
