And that's your lot for 2019. I'm not going to move straight onto 2021 tonight because this has already taken a lot of time. I will say though that 2021 has some of my favourite looks ever, including Mr Switzerland who is Mr Sweden 2019 levels of adorable.

It's easily the costume with the least coverage (i think in any year, actually) but it doesn't feel like it.
bevismusson.bsky.social
Oh I don't think it'll bring up a definition. "Fnar" is the noise you make when you say something kind of rude (in a sexy way) or an innuendo. You often hear it in things like Monty Python.

I don't know if it's a look that would work on a different model or if it's a bad photo or if it's a bad look entirely, but I'm absolutely certain it's a look I don't understand for probably multiple reasons.

Yeah, I have issues with the entire concept and the way it sets certain expectations of what "beauty" is, which is part of why I try and avoid commenting too much on the actual looks of the contestants (mostly) but I also love costumes and fashion so I do enjoy that part of it.

And finally Mr Vietnam 2019, who gives us one final look utterly bollocksed by the framing. There is clearly something colourful going on just below the knee there which feels like it's a focal part of the design and we can't actually see it.
Mister Global Vietnam 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing gold turban or headdress and a long black gown or coat with a long cape at the back. The gown has gold detailing and multicoloured embroidery of cloudes and circles (possibly the sun?) and what may be rainbows at the bottom, but you can't really see because it's cut off by the framing of the photograph

Mr United States 2019. This is why Mr Switzerland doesn't have the worst look of the year. The fact this isn't ironed, the fact it looks like a store bought costume or onesie, the fact it didn't even have proper boots (I checked), there is so, so much wrong with it.
Mister Global USA 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a very bad, very wrinkly Superman costume.

Mr Tunisia 2019. This is *stunning*. The slight shimmer on the material is breathtaking, as is the embroidery. And excuse the objectification here, but he is incredibly good looking with probably the best cleavage and stomach in the entire contest
Mister Global Tunisia 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a jacket and trousers made of black material with a slight silver shimmer which might mean it's velvet or has silver thread shot through it. The jacket has a broad stripe of silver embroidery around the edges and wrists and he has a wide silver belt.

Mr Togo 2019. This is another one where I think we're missing the full impact by having it cut off at the knee. The wrap is so beautiful that I want to see how it's draped on the lower half as well
Mister Global Togo 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a white undershirt (or tunic or robe? Impossible to tell how long it actually is) with a bright blue, orange and red wrap around his waist and over one shoulder. He has a wooden beaded necklace and a blakc hat with gold metal panels on it

Mr Thailand 2019. There is clearly so much going on just off the bottom of the camera here and it's criminal we're not getting to see it. This is one of the looks I suspect looked particularly amazing in motion too
Mister Global Thailand 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing an outfit made of gold flames (I think) patterned pieces, a gold winged waistband and what appears to be a long white train from his waist
bevismusson.bsky.social
It's stunning, isn't it? The colours are so utterly perfect on him
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Taiwan 2019. I think this one needs explanation because I can't work out what's going on (in terms of how the actual garment is working) and I suspect the photo is just a bad representation of what it is.
Mister Global Taiwan 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing headband with a tall white feather at the back and red and black striped garment that is hung round his neck that could possibly be a tunic of some kind, but it's really hard to tell

Mr Switzerland 2019. Look, I am not telling that Switzerland's looks get better from this point because this is not a look, it's an unironed flag with a hood, but I will say that the looks in later years are some of my favourites. But maybe not for good reasons
Mister Global Switzerland 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing hooded cape that is the Swiss flag and because he is facing away from the camera you can't tell if he has anything else on at all
bevismusson.bsky.social
There are so many looks that I just know are missing perfect details below the knee
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Sweden 2019. Oh god... I love Mr Sweden so much. This is such a perfectly Swedish look. He's completely out of place with everyone else and looks like he's wearing a waistcoat his mum made for him and it's unbearably adorable.
Mister Global Sweden 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing white shirt, a pale green ribbon bow tie, pale yellow trousers and a pale blue waistcoat with bug white and yellow daisies on it.
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Sri Lanka 2019. It's a while since we've had anyone done so dirty by the three quarters shot, but Mr Sri Lanka certainly has been. Clearly the pose is a big part of this look and we can't actually see most of it. I don't know if the gold is metal or not, but if it is it must weight a tonne.
Mister Global Sri Lanka 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a very intricate metal (or possibly resin made to look like metal) headpiece, shoulder and backpiece, wrists guards and a red and yellow loincloth with a gold belt on top

Into the final 10 with Mr Spain 2019. This one really frustrates me because the actual garment is gorgeous but it clearly doesn't fit him. I don't believe those trousers aren't meant to be perfectly fitted to him without all the puckering and wrinkling.
Mister Global Spain 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing black trousers that aren't so much high-waisted as low-nippled, a cropped black jacket with silver buttons down the front and up the cuffs, a white shirt and black tie
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr South Africa 2019. South Africa really goes for the LOOK AT MY TITS looks and I'm not complaining, but this isn't my favourite. It's not bad but it's a bit visually confusing (his tattoos don't help)
Mister Global South Africa 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a collar made up of crochet diamonds, glass beads and stars, a horseshoe and something that looks like a metal ring, black leather armbands with buckles, feathery pants with what appears to be a feathery bustle and a black leather belt that seems to have an actual lock as a buckle.

Mr Puerto Rico 2019. Can anyone tell me what that is on his cape (the design, not the wrinkles). I assume the knotted ropes on the collar and belt have significance as well, but I know not what
Mister Global Puerto Rico 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing red, white and blue feather headdress with a rope trim, a feather and rope collar and loincloth, a large white cape with a black design on it and is holding a tall stick with red, white and blue feathers tied to it
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Portugal 2019. Similar to Mr Poland they've clearly taken a simple but pretty traditional outfit and not messed with it at all, which I appreciate. I'm almost willing to forgive the fact the shirt isn't ironed. Almost.
Mister Global Portugal 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing white shirt with red embroidery round the collar and down the front, a black waistcoat which appears to be red on the back, black trousers and a wide red belt/sash. He has a broad brimmed black hat
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Poland 2019. This is a very nice, traditional dress that I suspect hasn't been messed with at all, but I'm distracted by the fact he looks like he's been taught a couple of dance steps and he's really not sure about them but is going to do them anyway and try and style it out.
Mister Global Poland 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a white shirt with puffy sleeves, a black sleeveless tunic with red piping and red tassles down the front, a wide red belt with two straps/buckles and red and white striped trousers
bevismusson.bsky.social
Mr Philippines 2019. The fake tattoo sleeves are a choice and I refuse to believe that he should be wearing them with that outfit. The pose is unexpectedly warrior who is a stripper on his lunch break too. The jewellery is lovely though
Mister Global Philippines 2019. A three quarter length photo and a headshot of the pageant contestant. He is wearing a gold headband, gold necklace, bangles and armbands and a red skirt and cape with yellow fringe round the skirt. He is holding a huge gold sword and gold shield (which is mostly off camera)

I have come to conclude that they can't. Or they have some kind of ethical objection to them. It's frustrating because so many of these looks clearly just needed a two minute steam before they walked out on stage.
bevismusson.bsky.social
So i have been told, yes. Which just makes me love it even more.
bevismusson.bsky.social
Such a bop. Does need a monocle or tiny round sunglasses and a top hat though.
