Yeah, same. Tidying up and washing of Christmas plates and the like all precede actual decorating.

There are a few bits a pieces like the teapot creeping in already and we'll need to get the trees down at the weekend so the cats can get used to them but proper decorations have to wait till December.

We normally do it fiest weekend of December, but since that's so late this year it'll likely be next weekend or the middle of the first week of December

You make a good argument. My bank balance probably disagrees, but fuck that miserable bastard

And for reference these are the ones I currently own. Dark gold, hot pink and black. They are all awesome, obviously.

I mean, oats are just raw porridge so flapjacks are just fancy porridge and are perfectly acceptable breakfast.

To be fair that's largely because I knew she has a recipe so I could include actusl amounts in case everyone needs to rush and make them (assuming golden syrup is available in the US)

The recipe isn't on her website, but this is Nigella's version. The basic ingredients are always the same but quantities vary a bit between recipes.

They're very much a staple of bake sales and kids birthday parties, but they're great because they're really quick to make, great make with kids and if you check the oats they're gluten-free and easy to do vegan with a butter substitute

Gussy them up with mixed seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower) or some spice (cinnamon or ginger) or a layer of chocolate after they're baked. They're also good because you can bake them till they're just cooked a still a bit gooey, or go very dry and crisp and crumbly.
November 24, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Therw are variations, but basically oats (rolled oats for preference), melted butter, sugar and golden syrup mixed together, squished into a pan and baked.

They also do a dark brown glitter, a light silver and a dark silver that I don't hate but I'm not immediately coveting, and a pale mint green which is frankly hideous and I can't fathom why it exists. But the pale pink and light gold are both lovely.

Actually, my black ones have white glitter tongues and it's lovely but I think a full white glitter shoe might look a bit gay wedding shoe, and while that's not a bad thing per se it's not really what im after. Also I suspect they'll get well grubby very quickly.

Gus, on the other hand, is absolutely livid. What you can't see here is a couple of seconds after I finished filming this he went BAPBAPBAP furiously on the track, which seems to be more of an issue than the train itself.

Billion!!?!!! Oh good lord...
November 24, 2025 at 3:39 PM
I have a couple, although not an actual collection. I've got a Donald Duck one that is terrific to look at but a *terrible* teapot, an old one with a slightly cracked handle and then a replacement one for that one. And now a specially Christmas one.

It is, isn't it?
November 23, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Isn't it great? And doubly so since it was only £5 from a charity shop
