Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

can the Supreme Court decide that the Civil War was decided incorrectly, because I feel like they might want to

I'm going through PT for 70yo knees & a bad hip, and they always ask my pain rating before we begin, and I always feel impostor syndrome trying to pin a number to it. It's just there, I'm used to it.

I knew when this all started that paper wouldn't shield anyone. Even if these mooks are literate, there's nothing stopping them from ignoring or destroying any documents when they want to brutalize someone.

This is yet another reminder that the "you can just walk around with your papers and be fine!" is a lie: the cops routinely claim whatever documentation you provide is invalid

It's racism all the way down

"During the encounter, Greeley said they told her she 'doesn’t look like' a Greeley."

www.yahoo.com/news/article...
Chicago Tribune: Greeley, who was born at Illinois Masonic hospital and is adopted, carries a copy of her passport just in case she runs into federal agents.

“I am Latina and I am a service worker,” Greeley said. “I fit the description of what they’re looking for now.”

During the encounter, Greeley said they told her she “doesn’t look like” a Greeley.

“They said this isn’t real, they kept telling me I’m lying, I’m a liar,” Greeley recalled. “I told them to look in the rest of my wallet, I have my credit cards, my insurance.”

I know the headline everyone's running with is "erotica" but "we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues" and "we are putting personality back in ChatGPT so it will act like a friend" are diametrically opposed statements

that's the cause of most of the mental health issues
mattburgess1.bsky.social
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

And similarly, when Biden was making rational decisions, constrained by norms, and surrounded by a highly competent staff his mental acuity was a top media concern. Trump is acting irrationally, with dictatorial powers and surrounded by clowns and the media is silent.

When you strip everything else away, the problem is that we have treated all of this as fine for only This One Special Boy. No one else, & certainly not a single Democrat anywhere in the country, would be permitted to do this stuff every day w/o it being a nonstop national scandal. Why is that? 🤷‍♂️

Hey look, Israel broke the cease-fire, twice, in two different ways, within 24 hours - again.

NEW: Israel informed the UN it will permit only 300 aid trucks into Gaza daily, not the 600 mandated by the ceasefire it just signed.

I think allowing online gambling was one of the worst mistakes of the last couple decades

My bff is a high school teacher and can verify that the (freshman) children are absolutely mobile gambling in high numbers, an activity that *already* has laws defining it as an adult-only activity requiring age verification

From AGI and curing cancer to ad-supported porn generator in a single quarter. Wild. I was sceptical as to whether all of these massive deals OpenAI are doing were to make the company 'too big to fail', but I'm pretty convinced of it now. It'll be largely US government backed within 12 months.

"We're saving God from Colin Kaepernik" is a pretty good distillation of Republican thought

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

i’ve said it many times to family and friends that I bet we see actors sign away their likeness to studios so they can make movies with them long after they die. I’d bet my life savings of approximately $2,700 in Lego’s and GI Joe’s that the first person to ink such a deal is Tom Cruise.

For like 20 years, you weren't able to make a YouTube video featuring a popular song without getting hit with an orbital laser. I don't understand how every single one of these deeply litigious companies is okay with turning their copyrighted IP into sludge people can pay another company to make

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform?

Is it...requesting content moderation?
Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.
