Aspiring Fool and Irenic Bro who was displaying rectitude and high-mindedness when that egghead you work for was still messing his drawers.
I've seen a number of people saying this but as someone who has worked for the church these were quite recognizable types. The msgr least of all but still. It is sorta funny how aflutter spaces like bsky get at the suggestion that not every catholic is a deranged fascist
Watched “Wake Up Dead Man” last night. Fun. But, you know, all of those Catholics were Protestants.

The only thing that will lose trump R voters is a failure to deliver treats. No matter how much they pretend to be bothered by this or anything else they will never be as bothered by it as having a hispanic person in their church or gay person in their school

Awful, of course, but kind of Funny that he's essentially claiming responsibility there

You have a right to die and the insurance companies have a right to declare you unfit to live. Something something public private partnership
I don't want to overreact to the new right-to-die legislation bc I watched my father die from pancreatic cancer and if he wanted to peace out early I wouldn't have blamed him but also right-to-die in a country with no real welfare state really is just a Social Murder Machine

Exactly zero Republicans didn't know they were voting for. They're just mad that they have to sacrifice some treats for the ethnic cleansing
(They did vote for this)

In an era were social rights are uniformly being taken away by all governments (or just not given when they've never been there), it is notable that the only one that has overwhelmingly been granted with all the claims of a major moral breakthrough by all occidental nations is "The right to die".

Sorry, chuds, but the word of god is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, and joints from marrow.
everyone calling this stuff “divisive” was also demanding that the church excommunicate Joe Biden

Supporters of the displays say the Bible is on their side, but critics call the scenes sacrilegious and politically divisive, accusing the churches of abusing sacred imagery. n.pr/4rTabaD

Currently trying to explain the difference between depiction and endorsement in "Silence" again. Sort of unfortunate that the work that broke out most is the one so many people cannot "get" on the first take
I'll admit part of my love for McKay and Endō (and a lot of the vaguely similar "type") is that they are instantly recognizable characters for anybody who was on Catholic Twitter in 2017/2018
Most of my convos with Catholics involve me telling them I work on Catholic/Christian literature from the 20th century, them saying "oh like Lewis and Tolkien" and then me getting to introduce them to Endō and McKay and get them to try reading poetry

You really don't have to engage seriously with "it's wrong and probably abusive to teach poetry to anybody who doesn't intend to be a professional, published poet" any more than you do "I haven't used any algebra since high school, they should stop teaching it"

between this and evangelicalism’s tendency to downplay Jesus’ Godhood (via the sophistry of Wayne Grudem, et al) in order to shore up complementarianism (???), I’m growing worried that American Arianism with Aryan Commitments is, like, two blog posts away from coming into full existence
ok it’s legitimately funny that they can’t even throw red meat to Catholics without falling into heresy

It's hard to say this without being taken as an anti-bedtime activist but the root ideology for basically all contemporary rw thought is "children (and probably women) are property"

then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM
