You have to understand that there is NO accountability for ICE even in theory. You can't sue an ICE agent. They won't be criminally prosecuted for violating your rights. They won't be fired. THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM ICE IS TO RUN FROM ICE.

The general expectation among US elite culture is that the broad catch all of "liberals"--urban dwellers, minorities, women, LGBTQ ppl, etc--are expected to eat unending amounts of shit from "real" Americans while a) not complaining and b) still financially supporting them but without holding power

I read the piece. You shouldn't. He dismisses the "No Kings" protests as liberals in blue cities. He invokes Rosa Parks, as if rural white people in the 60s loved everything that the movement then was doing. "We need a movement but not this one" is a core centrist tact these days.

Yes, Black plaintiffs in Tennessee only recently won a Section 2 lawsuit to have their county draw a county commission district that could elect Black commissioners. This undoes that across the South. It would be monstrous.
