I said this before, but it bears repeating: I was not firmly against Frey at the start of this election - I just knew Fateh’s track record of standing up for his constituents at the legislature.

Behavior from Frey’s staff & allies made me dislike him. Birds of a feather....

Senator Jim Abeler (R) and I agree - Fateh is a fierce advocate for his district. I think he will be a fierce advocate for Minneapolis with the cross-jurisdictional relationships needed to reform public safety, stand up to a hostile federal government, and support our schools.

Abeler gives Fateh credit for being a fierce advocate for his district and his community, and for recognizing when he had an advantage he could press.

Indeed, what others call hardball, Fateh calls doing his job.

“These big corporations and these entities that show up to the Capitol, they don’t have a shortage of voices for them; they’re going to be just fine,” Fateh said. “I like to stand up for the working person and the person that historically has been left behind.”

For what it’s worth, the agreement - while very bad - is much less targeted towards trans students than I have seen in other college agreements. There is no definition of sex, no explicit bans (but one sort of implicit convoluted one), and even leaves an out for “relevant court decisions.”
