I have terrible grammar, both from inadequate education and a weird quasi-dyslexia that means I often read, write, and especially revise/edit crosswise. A blanket explanation

Now everyone is 3 degrees away from a narcissist disorder , we always view people in the worst ways they could potentially be that we don’t see how people are just flawed and fuck up. Is your ex boyfriend a jerk and a liar? Potentially! But let’s just say that instead of therapy speak it out.

There was this shift in like 2010s where the anger about how dumb men could be or how dangerous the world was felt so chaotic and unpredictable. So there was an effort to make everything clinical and statistical. Like your bad experiences are universal AND part of a case study.

Your ex wasn’t gaslighting you . He lied to you! There is a very distinct difference! We don’t need to put clinical terms on everything. We need to become more personal in our anger. This is my strongest hill I’ll die on at 2AM , nobody knows how to be upset anymore.

I'll say it: I think its rly annoying and frankly amateurish that writers are constantly told their villains must be understandable or have sympathetic motivation to be interesting or realistic when all our big villains irl are in fact rich, stupid, selfish, trickster dillweeds and always have been

attacking and brutalizing your neighbors in the vast majority of cases for minor civil violations, menacing or brutalizing you if you get in the way, depriving you of the right to elect local leadership of your choosing, telling preposterous lies about everything. intolerable. cannot be tolerated

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

Fun(?) fact: a lot of the allegations of cannibalism among 'primitive' peoples was because Europeans considered paganism, witchcraft, and cannibalism synonymous, partially because pre-Christian Europeans had also engaged in the practice (though to what extent is probably exaggerated)

It's so funny that white people always bring up the lie about brown people being cannibals when eating people is the most common thing in their culture.

Feeling sick? Eat this 3,000 year old corpse!

Didn't pack enough food? Eat that guy who died yesterday!

Mad at your government? Simply eat them!

It's cool that if Martin Rev had gone with his real name as his stage name it would've been just as good, maybe better. Everybody likes reverby shit.

In a very real sense, the rally and the movie existed for each other, and for the same reason - to serve as a clarion call to the rest of the world and a keepsake of the moment the Nazis fully rose to power.

The idea was not to persuade, really - it was to showcase an illusion of perfection and order and strength to those who were already attracted to and impressed by those ideals. That was the point.

As he notes, Riefenstahl 'told the least interesting part of the story' - that all of these people were in one spot; that they were all perfectly synchronized in grooming, movement, face, voice, and thought; and that they were all at the service of this one man - because that's all that mattered

Ebert: 'It is one of the most historically important documentaries ever made, yes, but one of the best? It is a terrible film, paralyzingly dull, simpleminded, overlong and not even "manipulative," because it is too clumsy to manipulate anyone but a true believer.' web.archive.org/web/20110406...

Again, putting Scorsese, JR, and Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell on the same panel on this at New York Comic Con implies a welcome amount of ambition for this that nevertheless is probably going to confuse/alienate two thirds of Star Wars fans news.artnet.com/art-world/ma...

Imagine finally having the Star Wars guy show up at your world's largest fanboy meetup, and then being shown images of Frieda Kahlo and Scrooge McDuck, which are implied to be his preferred legacy
A video presentation showed interior looks at the museum — there are no right angles anywhere, Latifah underscored — as well as images that will be in the collection.
A cover of DC comic Mystery in Space, featuring the first appearance of Adam Strange; the first ever Flash Gordon comic strip; a cover of 1950s EC comic Tales from the Crypt; strips of Peanuts and Garfield; art ranging from Brian Bolland and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola to underground cartoonist Robert Crumb, Windsor McKay and Moebius; art of Astro Boy and Scrooge McDuck. But there were also images of art by Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth and Frieda Kahlo.

The story of how a holiday originally instituted to celebrate an embattled immigrant community seen as culturally and at times racially distinct from Anglo Protestants, has become associated with the same political coalition that hates immigrants today, is the story of whiteness in America.

Christopher Columbus himself was a monster, but Columbus Day was instituted in 1892 to combat rising anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic bigotry after the lynching of eleven Italian-Americans. The same revanchists defending Columbus Day as "part of our US heritage" in 2025 would have opposed it in 1892.
