not exactly what the woman said, but same energy. the soliloquy this is from had me bawling at the time
now, i don't do this, i'm just much too shy around people i don't know and don't check in enough with the people i do. but as an ideal to aspire to? gotta be my lodestar
maşallah
Mamdani is not a radical. He has run a tight, smart, fairly standard local campaign. He'll probably get 20 or 30 percent of his platform if he's lucky. The one radical thing he's done is told the Times to go to hell. He has campaigned every step of the way like he doesn't need them, and he's right.
enemies of humanity
I cannot fathom being angry that people get to eat.
Lots of people on Twitter are really mad about this, so I’ll be there in the morning.

Literally, for ~40 years, when faced with the chance to nominate a further-left option for president & to have a further-left platform, the <actual, existing Democrats> chose the moderate center-left option & advanced a policy platform directly in line with Popularism-in-that-moment on ~every issue.
i can see, i can see the wheels turning
Hmm, I wonder if they’re the right kind of terminally online…it’s not impossible!
The Yggy comparison is the lowest blow. You might be the opposite of that guy, somehow
from within these communities these standards are viewed as an external imposition on their way of life by entities who do not share, understand, or respect their values
they do not say “cultural imperialism” because they are not terminally online
This sucks tbqh. Up til now did not compromise on principles to court votes, afaik. Giving reactionaries a carve-out for dubious gains—electorally I don’t think he needs them, and communally he gains nothing, cements idea that he can only play ball with “good Jews”.
w/e. Is what it is, but I hate it
this is basically the take, it just doesn’t come out in ye olde twitter-sjw register

Well, if we just look through the last few mayors, we get:

Borough president (corrupt disaster)
Public advocate (largely ineffective)
CEO of big company (pretty good mayor)
U.S. Attorney (corrupt disaster, esp. in hindsight)
Borough president (he got done dirty)
Member of Congress (three terms)

It’s hard to maintain that the left are the most dangerous and destructive force in politics who should be reduced to one block and opposed tout court if you recognise that there are factions who want to liquidate entire social groups for failing to adhere to their definition of acceptable life.
You might ask: how could intelligent people miss something so glaringly obvious? And I’m afraid the answer is that a lot people cannot ever accept that reactionaries can’t be won over with compromises, because that would mean their entire analysis of politics is totally fucked. So it can’t be true.

To me, New York City will always be the Yemeni bodega I saw once with a cardboard and handwritten "Happy Rosh Hashanah!" sign taped to the door. That's what we're fighting for. 💜💜💜

the WHCA has the master they have always desired, and no matter how much he abuses them they will always come back each and every day to attend to him

i know it will be better to live in a world where everyone pretends to have been against him all along. but if and when we get there it will still be nauseating for me to excuse how much of the american public and its betters were and still are utterly nonplussed by this
More Insta snaps from the let them eat cake ball at Mar a Lago
it’ll probably depend on the we
(So is this a first of every month thing?)
I looked into it, this is Bill Ackman’s SuperPAC fwiw
(Off-topic but how are you censoring? This is trivial to do on desktop but i don’t know which apps actually let you do this)

Schrodinger's Swing Voter: Has only a surface level knowledge of politics and has no appetite long verbose political discussions, but has also voluntarily read the entirety of the Democratic Party Platform cover to cover.
Honestly bears all the hallmarks of a pragmatic right-wing campaign; they even have one concern-trolling about the cost of housing, which is a classic tactic
I was really under the impression that PACs weren’t allowed to do this tbqh, but I’m sure there’s some distinction I’m missing
Yup. Literally Sliwa is in the marketing (something like this comes in at least twice a day)
