Despite what some, including at DHS, are claiming, this video isn’t from a year ago in Chicago. It was Friday in Hoffman Estates, in my district, a street I’ve walked myself. It appears to show a child being violently detained by ICE. It’s real, and I’m demanding accountability.

I think personal “weakness” is the wrong framework. Biden couldnt do it because there was an election months away and bibi wanted trump to win because it guaranteed an unfettered hand and continued support, which was less certain under a second biden term.

I think people that unironically say "you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs" aren't actually interested in making an appetizing, edible omelette for anyone to enjoy. They just want excuses to smugly break eggs & play the victim whenever people complain about the mess they're making.

Lots of us have great-grandparents names who were absolutely changed when they came here, and when people say otherwise, they're assuming your great-grandparents name was in the Roman alphabet.

In the entire world, there is not a single human being with my mother's maiden name who is not a descendant of my great- grandfather. It follows the spelling and pronunciation rules of no language. It was absolutely changed at Ellis Island, and it's silly when people say that wasn't a thing.

Illinois State Police began to push people back from the curb. He said that at one point a federal agent grabbed his neck and twisted his nipple “as hard as they could.”

“This is while I’m in a clergy collar,” Woolf added.

McLaughlin responded that “officers do not twist people’s nipples or use undue force” and are “well trained in crowd control tactics.”

We can highlight that many women of the past did their best at the time, and some didn't do everything they could have with their voices, but I don't see any value in admonishing people for being saddened by the loss. She made heartwarming work that touched ppl and that counts for a lot.
