It’s hard to maintain that the left are the most dangerous and destructive force in politics who should be reduced to one block and opposed tout court if you recognise that there are factions who want to liquidate entire social groups for failing to adhere to their definition of acceptable life.
You might ask: how could intelligent people miss something so glaringly obvious? And I’m afraid the answer is that a lot people cannot ever accept that reactionaries can’t be won over with compromises, because that would mean their entire analysis of politics is totally fucked. So it can’t be true.

To me, New York City will always be the Yemeni bodega I saw once with a cardboard and handwritten "Happy Rosh Hashanah!" sign taped to the door. That's what we're fighting for. 💜💜💜

i know it will be better to live in a world where everyone pretends to have been against him all along. but if and when we get there it will still be nauseating for me to excuse how much of the american public and its betters were and still are utterly nonplussed by this

I looked into it, this is Bill Ackman’s SuperPAC fwiw
(Off-topic but how are you censoring? This is trivial to do on desktop but i don’t know which apps actually let you do this)

Schrodinger's Swing Voter: Has only a surface level knowledge of politics and has no appetite long verbose political discussions, but has also voluntarily read the entirety of the Democratic Party Platform cover to cover.
Honestly bears all the hallmarks of a pragmatic right-wing campaign; they even have one concern-trolling about the cost of housing, which is a classic tactic
I was really under the impression that PACs weren’t allowed to do this tbqh, but I’m sure there’s some distinction I’m missing
Yup. Literally Sliwa is in the marketing (something like this comes in at least twice a day)

Katie Miler, the wife of the US homeland security adviser threatened that the government would denaturalize him because he disagreed with her: "You better check your citizenship application and hope that everything was legal and correct."
this is just stupid already! come on!
oh for fuck’s sake! Why are they even spending time on these cranks?!?! THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT EMPIRICAL REALITY AND NEVER HAVE! THEY LIE FOR POWER!
One more study with slightly better methodology is totally gonna stop conspiracists from talking about this, great point

Media/journalistic apologia/"concern" seem to be able to create up to a 15 point swing and, so far this century, they've only used it to swing things in one direction.
Biden's approval rating sank as low as 35 percent. Trump is gleefully starving 42 million Americans, sending a fascist government $40 billion, overthrowing a country, and building a ballroom bunker while posting photos of his new bathroom. And his approval rating is 39 percent. Weird country.
always hated this attitude, tbqh. but I guess I can’t be too surprised by it. the logical conclusion of intentionally forfeiting any organized legislative ability is to substitute “well acktuwully” just-so readings that create positive commandments or at least new stringencies out of whole cloth

Our failures to build transit and housing share many of the same causes — like listening to the voices of a few loud NIMBYs over the urgent needs of this city’s working people.

By voting @YesOnAffHousing.bsky.social props 2-5, we can start to change this.

Even since 2020, after losing <yet another election>, the actual Republican Party has chosen, thousands of times, to move even further away from the magical moderate policies that the imagined median voter & the imagined Democrats in Ezra Douthglesias' head <must> do in order to win elections.
Signs you might be a far right authoritarian party (#3252):
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

this strikes me as something akin to when Greenspan remarked in 2008, about his prior economic ideas, "I have found a flaw. I don't know how significant or permanent it is. But I have been very distressed by that fact."

Greenspan has not since become a champion of social democracy, however.
Mr. Obama sir we tried to tell you that you were running with a bad crowd (billionaires), they’re bad news

Functionally, this is a Reverse Enabling Act. A total failure of Article I of the Constitution. The most unprecedented such crisis in 🇺🇸 history, while a president murders people freely on the high seas, bulldozes the White House, & monetizes the presidency in plain sight. A "Republic" or something.
My god, WHAT is in those Epstein files that has him so terrified of swearing in Vote Number 218?

“I will not bring the House back to session until the Congress negotiates a budget that it needs to pass” is pretty much a pure pi-r-squared circle.
Mike Johnson says he will not bring the House back in session until the government reopens

While this is true, the fact that only 6% could say it was “mostly violent” after weeks of prepping the ground by the admin really does show that objective reality is not entirely irrelevant to popular perceptions
But it's also weird they ask people if No Kings was violent, like it was a matter of opinion rather than fact that it wasn't. It's true some people think the earth is flat; it's not true that it might be flat as a result of those opinions.
