I come from one of the few survivors of the Wounded Knee Massacre. I come from survivors of the Native Boarding School system. Survivors of genocide, war, relocation, poverty, murder, suicide, erasure, and more.

The reason many of us on the academic side keep saying free and fair elections are not guaranteed is because we are seeing the effort to rig them out in the open months in advance.

They are not being subtle and the calls for civility until the election are increasingly dangerous

If you've never been to Gaza, you won't appreciate what the yellow line means. Basically Israel now holds most of Gaza's small but important agricultural land. Continued Israeli occupation, which I judge the likely outcome, makes Gaza even more unliveable and more dependent on outside goods.

President Kornbluth focuses—and she's right—on the principle that "scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."

The document also includes principles with which we disagree, including those that would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution. And fundamentally, the premise of the document is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone.
