The ashtray joke OTOH is understatement of something that really happened. It’s the opposite of hyperbole. It’s saying “this really happened and I think it was funny.”

A friend recently told me that they didn’t think ICE would deploy tear gas in well to do neighborhoods with a high density of white people. I understood their thinking, but disagreed. Today, they gassed Lakeview. Nothing is off limits to these people.

You can also reduce strain on food banks in other ways, like inviting neighbors to eat with you or even setting up neighborhood batch cooking. Cooking is a lot more efficient and less expensive per plate when you feed a lot of people at once.

Also, look up Langar & local gudwaras. They'll feed you.
