They’re developing one that tracks “reproductive health”. If that includes a monitor for HCG (the pregnancy hormone), depending on what state you live in…maybe don’t use this.

At the end of the day, we are all Americans. Sure, we have differences on policy. One side wants to give everyone healthcare and good wages. The other wants to create a white Christian ethnostate where the president can legally assassinate anyone at will. But we are not enemies.
I have two. Why the weekends? Why these little marches? You need to barricade the streets until the rule of law is restored or you are done for.

Sorry native-borns, now that ANYONE can have their actual birth certificate cancelled by a cellphone photo taken on a busy street... Do you still think this is about the immigrants who are murderers and rapists?
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Sort of incredible that we live in a world where the vice president of the United States is just spewing the sort of horseshit that literal children are traditionally taught is wrong

his wife grew up in a household that spoke a different language than he does. a normal person who has this level of bigotry in his heart would either change or realize that his entire life is worthless. I hope he recognizes the latter.
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do
Yeah, the largest muslim populations are in countries where the hijab is not mandated by law, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh among them.

Replacing my maid with an old Bluetooth speaker on the body on a cheap ASIMO ripoff that's controlled by the kid who shouted the n-word at me on Xbox Live for $20k.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever
"In a blog post, the companies said a revenue share agreement remains in effect until an expert panel verifies AGI." so until Santa Claus personally welcomes the AGI. Got it.
And you want me to switch to Linux because Windows 10 is EoL.

The kids still have not figured out how to make a desktop Linux, apparently and would rather fight.
Dear Cat, this is wonderful.

And I will chalk it to you being sick (hope you get better soon) for not catching the wonderful opportunity to name it Oregon Tail journey :D
I would argue the name "university" has a good reason to be close to "universal". I think school from preschool to college is not important for the exact thing you learn but for gaining and honing the ability to learn. It's just we do not know how to teach learning without teaching some subject :)
Good sir, I need to disagree with your post: gulaag is only one a.

Otherwise, yes.

There is literally not one person who can exist in modern society without using the big tech platforms daily, at least indirectly. That doesn’t mean it’s futile to try to reduce dependency or investment, but I also am not judging anyone harshly for that, least of all those who are most vulnerable.
Before I go to bed, unfriendly reminder that boycotting Amazon and other services is just *not feasible* for some people. Income, disability, access to other services, lack of transportation, delivery fees, etc.

It doesn't mean they're "complicit". It means they're a victim of capitalism too.
Not wanting to be a shill but really, have you tried Kagi?
This is utterly baffling to me. Just what does Framework think who their audience is? As many have pointed out their laptops are too expensive for the upgradeability to make financial sense. So what are you left with? People who care about ideology. Nothing with wrong with that of course.

I'm old enough to remember when parents groups put warning stickers on CDs because they worried suggestive lyrics might lead to anything from drug use to teen sex to suicide.

But if a robot explicitly takes you through the steps rather than a subtle Judas Priest lyric, I guess it's okay.
Here’s where it gets personal for me. When I was 9, I started experiencing suicidal ideation … disinterested in living, and at least some of the time contemplating death and how it might happen … It’s easy to imagine how I would have used programs like these chatbots.
Perry: How can AI be used ethically when it’s been linked to suicide?
"It’s not on us, on you and me, to use AI ethically or responsibly. It’s on the companies to build safe, reliable, ethical products," David M. Perry writes.

Explaining to children that they shouldn't worry about a career because the world will be completely unlivable in 15 years and that death will be a sweet relief from living in a nuclear wasteland is probably the hardest part of working at Build-a-Bear
