David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

In 2014 during the net neutrality wars, Obama voiced his support for net neutrality. Republicans REPEATEDLY, for YEARS, (falsely) claimed this was an illegal, unethical affront to FCC independence.

11 years later they now insist the FCC has no independence and serves at the whims of our mad king:
FCC chief Brendan Carr tells Senate that his agency is 'not formally ... independent'
FCC chairman Brendan Carr testified to a congressional committee for the first time since ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel's show following a Carr threat.

Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Among the books being driven into the woods by pitchfork-wielding villagers this year: Louis C.K.’s masturbatory debut novel, Olivia Nuzzi’s delusional fortune cookie, Woody Allen’s autofictional kvetch-fest, and Kamala Harris’s 304-page excuse for ineptitude.

a major factor that prevented Reagan from escalating the Cold War to a nuclear exchange was the fact that a filmmaker with some political connections made a TV movie about how even a limited nuclear war would kill absolutely everyone

this is cited even in Reagan's hagiographies as why he pivoted

Reagan was an omnibigot who believed universal healthcare was slavery and made foreign policy decisions based off the interpretations of his wife's favourite psychic

he thought he could win the Cold War by blowing up the USSR with magic space lasers that he called "Star Wars"

Ronald Reagan was infamous for being a charismatic guy who ultimately barely knew what was happening and plunged the USA headfirst into almost all its current woes

he's literally the model for Trump! he's Trump's direct predecessor in type!

To recap:

- Reagan was working on rolling back the New Deal since 1954
- He wanted war declared in Vietnam and called protesters trash
- His take on the AIDS crisis or the lack of it have killed so many people it's hard to count
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Every few years there's a bunch of "pivot to video" discourse about how creatives should all start making videos instead of doing text-based work. And every few years we discover again that the supposed "popularity" of video is based on fake audience numbers created by the video platforms.

About ten years ago, I read a really powerful essay arguing that opioid addiction and school shootings (and I think one more line of seemingly disconnected evidence) as uniquely American problems were symptoms of a greater societal sickness. It wasn’t in a major media outlet. Does this ring a bell?

Again, the logical endpoint of the Great War on Terror from the perspective of 2000s Bush-haters was that the government could designate anyone/anything it didn't like a terror thread/WMD and use the full might of the unitary executive to obliterate it.

It took 2 decades to come to fruition, but...

Here are a few reasons off the top of my head why creators don’t LOVE AI:
1. It has been used to create videos of them saying inappropriate things
2. It has been used to sexually harass them
3. It has been used to scam their fans
4. It directly competes with their business and devalues their work

This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants
