Sometimes things seem funnier when the Nazis are thirty years in the past and defunct and not a significant portion of current world governments.

this is the kind of statement highlighting why i criticize dems and say they need to adopt modern comms. this comment should be repeated on the social media for every congressional dem and denounced in press releases from them all. its not even ideological. blue dogs and super lefties can agree.
this is a prime opportunity for democrats to explicitly tell their voters "they say you're a terrorist, but youre just a patriotic american who is trying to get by in this world."
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."

2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

I would say that raises the question of why voters should support any ballot measure that supposedly dedicates funds to a purpose. If levies are slush funds, then ask voters to just pay a new tax for "any general fund purposes as determined by future elected officials" and see how that goes.

TV show idea: A Goode Judge of Character. Judge John Goode does his best not to get caught up in the lives of the people who pass through his county courtroom, as he simultaneously tries to navigate the small town dating scene as a single father in the small town of Character, Illinois.

First to jump. There will be more in the coming weeks. Sad times for a once great news network.
NEWS: CBS News head of standards Claudia Milne has quit. It was announced in the network’s 9 am editorial meeting. Bari Weiss was not on the call. According to a source, Milne gave thanks but did not say why she’s leaving the network.

Not an original thought, but I still suspect people wanting voice as a primary input for office work and people with corner offices is a circle.

I feel like (as with so many things with AI) this is techbros confusing the affordances of science fiction *media* with reality, when those affordances are often driven by the needs of the *media* rather than the SF.

I.E. they talk to the computer on Star Trek because typing is visually boring!
Can you imagine a writers retreat where everyone is talking to their computer all the time? Or a classroom? Or trying to work in an open plan office where everyone in every cubicle is talking in loud clear voices and then things go wrong because their computer heard Bill talking two cubicles over...
This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

You know what, let's just leave everything up to states. Including immigration and defense. No sense in wasting our tax dollars on that stuff either. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/16/c...

But not everything from Star Trek, even if you CAN make it work, is what you would actually want.

In other words, please stop trying to make Picard's tap-pin-and-talk thing happen. It only works in a nice calm TV environment where the viewers are listening in.

It’s perfectly okay for Dredd not to show up in a story set in his world.
Briefly thought about a "what's your most unhinged opinion about Judge Dredd" post but then I realised both "Dredd shouldn't have killed half a billion people" and "Dredd was just defending his city by nuking East-Meg 1" are reasonable points, Justice Dept exists beyond conventional morality

SO much of the cultural and artistic nostalgia that society chases was just art made when people got paid to do it. Lavish movie posters made by human artists, video games made by people without sixteen different investment companies breathing down their neck, movies made by studios taking a chance.
