In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the
ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear
how he was injured). But when the patient was
loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the
ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the
ambulance driver:

I dreamed yesterday the Portlanders were going all over the city and taking “proof of life” hostage photos in front of Portland spaces holding a newspaper to prove the date of the photo.
Maybe it should really happen.

A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

Our public money to support research at our universities is mandated by our Congress.

It is not the personal slush fund of the president, to withhold at will or dole out as largesse, rewarding those who please him.

Those who seek reform of universities can use laws, not arbitrary extortion.

Lots of us have great-grandparents names who were absolutely changed when they came here, and when people say otherwise, they're assuming your great-grandparents name was in the Roman alphabet.

Now, more than ever, it's important to understand why so many the myths we tell ourselves about immigration are actually very harmful.

First of all, your great-great-grandparents names *were not changed* at Ellis Island. No one there had the authority to do that.

One you learn when researching 19thC Chinese immigration into CA was how fucking bonkers names were transcribed as. Surnames became forenames. Guesses at pronunciations were anglecized into common English words. Others took American names for ease and those were put on census records.

This is the response I received from ICE when I inquired about the 13-year-old they abducted from Everett, Mass. on Friday:
Good afternoon, Marisa.
Please see the below from DHS on the 13-year-old alien.
Please feel free to direct any questions to them.
Respectfully,
James

I asked ICE why they couldn’t comment on their own arrest. The agent said to direct questions to DHS. And it appears DHS is making accusations via X to justify the abduction of a child.
