Stuart's paper is about a combination of ostracism (isolating a party) & stigmatisation (stressing that the party is i.a. homophobic).
FYI in 2 studies, Rachid Azrout & I find that such stigma reduces far right vote share (see also other studies).
But they seem important for *non-policy based* reactions to these parties - and a very cool study!
Rachid Azrout & I have 2 articles on stigmatisation of the far right, an experimental (in AP '22) & a non-experimental one (IJPOR '19).
What does "distinctiveness" mean here:
adopting (the) core policy position(s) of VOX (=accommodation, policy based)
or
systematically refusing political cooperation (=ostracism, non-policy based)?
In other words, do you mean imitating VOX or isolating it?

Maar een stijging in peilingen eruit pikken en dan ergens aan toeschrijven kan misleidend werken.
Zeker middenin een verkiezingscampagne, waarin zoveel gebeurt, offline & online, in zo korte tijd, door zoveel spelers tegelijk.
Daarover zou ik me niet al te druk maken.
En ook allerlei gesuggereerde electorale effecten van (on-)voordelig gefotografeerd worden zijn op z'n minst niet te detecteren en hoogstwaarschijnlijk gewoon nul.
Die liggen vooral op sociaaleconomisch vlak, zoals ongelijkheid en bezuinigingen.
Opvallend dat het niet goed lukt om interviews in die richting te sturen.
Wel wordt D66 daarop aangevallen, maar of dat nou zo goed valt is de vraag.

Helemaal met je eens als je bedoelt dat het huidige systeem kwetsbaar is:
Schrijfsels kunnen onverdiend het stempel "proefschrift" krijgen door de commissie zo samen te stellen dat het erdoor glipt.
Ook vanwege prikkels om het maar goed te keuren.
Een steekproef met 1,2k respondenten kan, mits goed uitgevoerd, best iets zeggen over 13,6m kiesgerechtigden.
Maar: het presenteren van "7% Stoffer" onder 18- tot 24-jarigen, zonder onzekerheidsmarge ook, is apart.
