I find the specific mentions of Clarksworld, the Hugos, and the Nebulas very interesting.

In case folks are still reading for Auroras, Rhyslings, Nebulas, or Hugos... a reminder that I have some eligible poetry!
Finally, Poetry!

The Lowest Kind of Fable (19 lines) from @justkeepupmagazine.bsky.social , March 27 2025.

My usual fairy-tale inspired fare. Why might a woman want to be the princess in a fairytale story, even with how poorly they are treated?

Honestly their awards selection indicates where they're getting their fucking ideas from lmao

There are SO MANY other literary awards and you go for the fucking corrupt popularity contest that is the Hugos lolllllllllll
January 31, 2026 at 2:50 AM
Just sayin', you can register to vote in the Hugos, and you can even nominate the stuff you think should be honored, even a book about Ancient Egypt during a zombie apocalypse!

(pls nominate "To Conquer Death". prtty pls)
Did you know that you, yes YOU, can vote in the Hugo Awards??

@mollytempleton.com breaks down the process, including how to register before the January 31st deadline!

Reminding folks that you, too, can have a voice and be part of the conversation of what works deserve recognition and praise - but only if you have a membership to nominate and vote! #Hugos #HugoAwards
Once, not too long ago, there was a young fan who wanted to nominate her favorite book of the year for the Hugo Award. She kept planning to pick up her Worldcon membership, but left it until January 31. On February 1, she woke up and realized that she'd forgotten! She'd left it too late.

Duncan also had his final speaking role here
"Hugo and the Airship" marked Hugos final leading role, final episodic appearance and his final speaking role

Happy 9th anniversary!

I think in genre spaces people became enamored with "the power of stories" because telling stories is what we do, and we want it to matter. And it does matter, but somewhere along the way writing (and reading) moralising stories became equated with activism. Yes I'm still salty about Raytheon Hugos
“What it boils down to is that, for all its transformative power, the production and consumption of art is not a substitute for material action, if what you’re concerned with is seeing your moral and political will expressed in the world.”

Would you like to read to poems? Are you nominating for the Rhysling, Hugos, or Nebulas?

I’ve got links in thread for you! I’m really proud of the work I did last year, especially the poem I cowrote with @kambriel.com !

Darlings! A fresh post.

I've got poems eligible for the Hugo @laworldcon.bsky.social), Nebula ( @sfwa.org), and Rhysling awards ( @sfpoetry.bsky.social). Links:

TIL that a Nebula Award is an *actual physical award*.

In spite of having lived w someone who ran Hugo Award ceremonies & known people who designed Hugos...

... I still had no clue I'd burst into tears seeing that Ursula K. LeGuin's 1969 Nebula was an actual physical award.

Life is weird.

Right, I have now got a WSFS membership to nominate and vote in the Hugos.

You should do the same, even if you can't / don't want to attend WorldCon. Because it means you can nominate the Craft Sequence for Best Series. Which you should most definitely do.

Post a game you remember playing that nobody else remembers.

«Hugos hule» from the 90s. Was on a show on Tv2 in Norway. Had major issues due to the lag of phone signals and interactivity. First example of e-sports perhaps?

If you intend to nominate for the 2026 Hugo Awards, now is the time to sign up for a WSFS membership. Only those who are WSFS members prior to the end of day on January 31, 2026 have the right to nominate for the Hugos.

I don't post much about my creativity coaching services, but I'm real good! I run play workshops and grief workshops. My clients have healed from burnout, had art displayed in museums, written bestsellers, and won many awards including Hugos, Nebulas, and the National Book Award.
