I’m against these stupid semantic games the Democrats always seem hellbent on losing- see open borders, defund the police. Abolish ICE, okay what about CBP? I’m all for fundamentally restructuring, DHS, but if we are to have *some* enforcement to me that falls into the reform category.

You don't need to invade either Kalaallit Nunaat OR Canada to set up a DEW system, or even threaten to invade--there's already treaties, they'd probably *agree* to this if the US asked *nicely* instead of threatening and being all hellbent on trying to turn them into new possessions of the US

Very true; although as senior Labour figures like Streeting seem hellbent on privatising / outsourcing things, I don’t think people trust that things like this will remain in-house, even if they start that way.

If that's the case the remaining conventional option would be for Dems to be as obstinate a minority as possible. Gum up the works and abuse the filibuster like McConnell did, if they're so hellbent on keeping it. But they won't even do this most of the time, except during some govt shutdowns
